So many people groan about the loss of Dungeon and Dragon, but let's face facts: those two "fine publications" were merely outlets for material so ridiculously unbalanced or irredeemable that it would never make it into any actual sourcebook. Because of WotC sponsorship of the two products, people argued that their contents were "official" material, and this allowed them to import some of the worst-implemented and poorly-balanced options in 3.0 and 3.5. Essentially a Munchkin's wet dream.

Wow.

I mean, wow.

I'm not saying that they have to respond to everyone but there are "0" replies to anyone....... It just seems like a company that big would have just one person able to read the messages and some things up every few weeks at least..........

A quick search for posts by users with "WotC" in their name on the official boards reveals pages and pages of responses there.

It's a big, big messageboard. Just because your question wasn't answered doesn't mean that dozens of others aren't.

If they took a moment to listen to the yowls of every whiny grognard they'd want to quit within a month.

/off topic

When did the word grognard become a negative?

/topic

If they would just explain the issue, I would be ok with new expectations, I know things change in a business.

It's the vaccum that bothers me.

Well there are some inconsistencies as far as the Dragon and Dungeon on DDI are concerned. Their Preview article (I think the December and beyond one) promised an exact schedule of articles for the online editions of the magazines. Several of the articles promised for 361 were skipped and the previews on 362 are too slow for what is supposed to become a bi-monthly initiative. At the same time some of the articles are simply of poor quality (the Wailing Dwarf comes to mind, it simply felt forced), and people doing simple research can find out that we got more online content during the AD&D to 3E transition than we do know as well as the then under publication Dungeon and Dragon.
I for one understand that WotC has a lot to handle, and if a second of their time could be spend on making core 4E a better game, I would not mind them giving us nothing on the web other than the rare preview. However by making commitments, however vague those may be, they give people the feeling that this digital initiative is not meeting up to standards expected for the DDI. If they mess it up badly enough people who would otherwise sign up for DDI at launch may well wait up for some time till others review it. And if that number is big enough, the subscriptions may be too weak and affect the future of the DDI.

Its not just that they don't address questions pertaining to them, its that they are doing nothing but haphazardly putting stuff out in dribs and drabs at random in a barely usable manner. They are certainly not doing anything to justify taking them out of the gaming shop/news stand and making them digital.

Its simply a worse product.

Now sure I want the Core Books to be the #1 priority, but its been announced that PHB, & MM are done largely, and the DMG is nearing done.

If things continue as they have been so far for the next 4 months - I suspect the DDI will not get teh subscription effect WotC is hoping for (and lets face it its all about more $$$ in WotC pockets this supposed improvement).

Well they pay a guy whose job would seem to focus around reading the boards and responding to posters. I haven't seen anything posted by Mike (GamerZero) in quite some time on the D&D boards, so I don't know what he's up to, but the perceived lack of presence isn't comforting when it's presumably his job as the community liaison.

That's an interesting opinion. More interesting since many of the Dragon and Dungeon authors are STILL working on WoTC products. I guess 4e is a ' a Munchkin's wet dream' too then eh? :p

This sort of attitude is exactly the reason why they rarely post anything on the forums any more.

No matter how concerned you are, there's someone who's unconcerned and will buy the product, no questions asked. Sure, losing your business may seem like the beginning down a slippery slope, but it's merely one dip in a series of peaks and valleys.

They create the game and the rules, but they don't obligate you to buy it. They'll answer questions if they want to, provide extended content if they want and if they don't, they won't.

So many people groan about the loss of Dungeon and Dragon, but let's face facts: those two "fine publications" were merely outlets for material so ridiculously unbalanced or irredeemable that it would never make it into any actual sourcebook. As far as publication dates...those come and go, particularly with a product that's still in the development cycle. What has and hasn't gone to the printers at this point is up for debate, but all of the content certainly hasn't been sent forth.

Doing a search of the WotC boards I see that he has posted 80 times in the last week. 6 of those posts were in D&D forums. Most of the posts were in the community forums. Sounds where most of the discussion of the community liason should be.
