Hi everyone,

Dungeon Crawl Classics #13: Crypt of the Devil Lich is now available as a PDF from www.rpgnow.com. You've probably heard about this module. Ten dungeon designers helped produce this beautiful death trap, which is destined to become a legend. It was used in the First Annual Dungeon Crawl Classics Open Tournament at Gen Con Indy 2005, and is now available for your home use -- at least in the PDF edition. The print edition is still a month away from being available, but we're releasing the PDF within 2004 in order to qualify for certain awards. We really think it's that good! You can find the PDF edition at this URL: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=3973&SRC=EnWorld

at 96 pages, that's a mighty big module. Mmmm. A bit pricier than your previous releases in the line; looks liket it's worth it though.

Damn you! I was just formulating my New Year's Resolutions today and the top one was to stop spending money on RPG stuff! And you announce this?!?!?

Seriously, I played in this at GenCon Indy - made 1st cut but not the 2nd - and *loved*
it! Very reminiscent of the first time I played Tomb of Horrors without any knowledge
of what was inside.

Can't recommend it enough!!!

Hey guys,

Crypt of the Devil Lich is indeed more expensive than the typical DCC module, but trust me, the money goes to good use. This book has double the art budget of a normal 96-page book, with at least one image for almost every 2-page spread, and many of them full-color at that (including two new full-color Erol Otus pics on the interior, plus his sketch of the tournament winner's favorite character), plus pictures of the pregens, and new Jim Holloway art, and something like 22 (22!!!) player handouts. While using the alphabet numbering system for handouts (Handout A, Handout B, etc.) I almost ran of letters!

This module is a showpiece. Even at the higher price point, it was very expensive to produce. But I figure once a year, Goodman Games can do a module that really pulls out all the stops, and the natural choice is the Gen Con tournament module. The PDF edition is $14.99, and the print edition will be $24.99.

The print edition is en route from the printer right now, but it was produced overseas so it's a slow transit. Based on the latest estimates, it will hit our warehouse in late January and be in stores mid-February. However, this depends on many more complicating factors than usual -- including customs and immigration officials -- so don't take that as concrete just yet!

I'll 'spoiler' this for people who may play it:

First the size:
3 Levels - 8-9 rooms per level. Doesn't sound like much, but each room is about 2-3
pages of description because the traps are detailed or the monster/trap combo
is big.

Then the traps
I hate to give detail because there pretty inventive: Think of the mosaic hallway from
Tomb of Horrors, spinning rooms, sequence puzzles, and *very* creative use of
templates and monsters.
