Dungeon Magazine: New Format, New Subscription Price

I am comfortbale with Paypal - I am not comfortable with Visa or MC on the net.

This means if I want the product, I must now go stand in-line at the bank, get a U.S.D. money order, get an envelope, fill out the card, put an address on the envelope, find the stamps to mail it to the US, and remember to put it in the mail.

I don't generally bother to do such things for subscriptions and - in this case - I expect I am not going to either.
I may be wrong, but isn't it possible to order with a Visa or MC by phone if you call Paizo customer service?

I haven't picked up Dungeon in a while - I don't use published adventures very often. However, it sounds like the new format may be geared more toward my interest. I'll pick up the next issue and see if it provokes me into getting a subscription. I'm hoping so - if so, it'll be my first subscription to my new home in sunny California. Wheee!

I need you to buy it.

Reward good behavior. You’ve spoken, and we’ve listened. Together, we can make sure that Dungeon keeps its new focus for many years to come. Sales and subscription numbers alone will determine the future of the magazine.
You've made the changes that I had asked for. It's only fair that I give you my support. I can't subscribe right now (at work), but I will when I get home.

I have already decided to start buying the new Dungeon even though I have only bought two in the last five years; however, I will buy it through my FLGS, being in Germany and all that :)

Anyway, even though I never wrote in and in reality never considered Dungeon to be a magazine for my needs, thank you for the changes (my bank would like to thank you, as well, but my landlord would rather express his frustration with my strange monetary priorities) ;)

It's great to see the subscription price for Dungeon go down, even though I re-upped two months ago.

Erik, you can take my extra $5 and buy something nice with it. ;) By the way, issue #114 is great.

That is good news. I'll be picking up #114 at my FLGS and then deciding whether to subscribe.

Was there any thought given to a discount for subscribers to Dungeon and Dragon? Or what about a big package deals that includes Amazing Stories?

Erik-

Although I will miss the demise of Polyhedron (especially the minigames), I absolutely support all the other changes you have made. Dungeon #114 arrived yesterday, and I have pounded through it in all my free time since! It is truly great stuff. Specifically, I think the Background on Isle of Dread is fantastic- well written, game-useful material. The module is just as good- frankly, it made me want to dig down the original X1 module it is based on. (And, I really like the idea of good new material that still leverages nostalgia, like Warduke, Castle Maure and now the Isle of Dread- I totally endorse that concept.) I especially like that your new format not only has the three level tiers, but also that you are scaling the encounter difficulty/complexity with GM hints as appropriate for each level tier. It is really smart, and helpful for new GMs. It is not so glaring reading the adventures, but when you look for the subtle differences, you will notice page references in the DMG, etc. Good stuff. Monte Cook's articles are always welcome. Wil Wheaton's column was sincere, well written, and just as readable whether you are a Star Trek fan or not- I have no strong opinions about Wheaton as an actor, but the guy can write! And, the cover ROCKED!

In the interest of balance, I do have some critques, but only minor ones:
* I am not a fan of Downer. I tried to like it- love the art style- but cannot follow the plot to save my life. Too complicated.
* All things being equal, I would like a few more comic strips in the mag.
* The new logo is kinda lame. ;)

Keep up the great work. It is obvious that you put a lot of effort into making this first format release a dramatic, postitive one. IMO you succeeded convincingly. :)

Price Difference

Gah, I still need to get #113, can't miss an installment of the Adventure Path...

*Anyway*....

Just looking at the web site, and are my eyes fooling me, or has the price of the Canadian subscription compared to the price of an American subscription come down? I hate how subscriptions cost so much more (in USD) to get there here than down there, but $7 isn't so bad compared to some that I've seen (in excess of $20, ah the erroneous benefits of free trade made even more erroneous by not applying to mail). I'm looking forward to getting it, Erik, especially to check out the Wil Save column.

I renewed my Dragon subscription and, on reading about the new look and direction for Dungeon, subscribed to that too! Both are 3-year subscriptions and I'm looking forward to them all! And thank the gods for getting rid of those god-awful title fonts of the last few years.
