Dungeon Magazine: New Format, New Subscription Price

Hey Erik
I just let my subscription to Dragon expire, but I'm strongly considering replacing it with Dungeon. I enjoy the renewned emphasis on specific settings, and the "DM focused" orientation will be of more use to me than rules articles I or my players can't use (I like things OGC). If Dragon begins publishing even one OGC article every month or two, I'd sign up for both in a heartbeat.

(Hurry up with those submission guidelines!)

Cheers!
Nell.

Eric, (et al),

I've been subscribed to Dragon for about a year and a half now, (previous to that I mostly collected Halloween issues, and read my friends') and after reading the orginal "open letter" a little while ago started thinking more about Dungeon.

As a DM I use my own home brew, and I pride myself on writing all original adventures, but with the changes slated for the magazines (more DM content in Dungeon, less in Dragon), and after reading this thread I logged in to my Paizo account and subscribed to Dungeon. (It's easier for me to sub and then cancel if I don't like it, than to try to find issues on a regular basis at Chapters or even my FLGS).

So, we'll have to see how it goes. If I really like it, I'll keep it, and if I'm disappointed with the changes to Dragon, I'll cancel that one, and maybe apply the balance towards my new Dungeon subscription.

My two cents re content: Didn't really like Downer, but the art is cool. I hope there will be more comics like in Dragon. (Nodwick is repetitive, but Zogonia is funny). Don't much care for the new logo, but then it's just a logo, so, meh. Customer Service: haven't had any trouble. Web site: needs a lot of work (I'm eager to see the changes), Eberron: I love Eberron, in fact, I'm addicted to it I think, so more Eberron adventures are a good thing.

Eric: PLEASE can we have Halloween-themed October issues for Dungeon and Dragon every year? PLEEEEEAAAASSSEEEE?!?!

Re: Next subscription issue. For all of you who keep asking what will be your first issue, when I subscribed yesterday (July 29) it told me my first issue would be #115. So, there ya have it.

Ciao.

Erik:

Thanks for the response and reading my post.

Erik, will there still be Living Greyhawk rules and fluff "type" articles or JUST the Cities of Adventure series?

I agree that the CS service has suffered a bit. I wish Pazio had a 1-800 number to call for problems staffed by a group of live people. I called a long distance number listed in Dragon one time, and all's I got was the office voice mail.

Mike

Sorry Eric ... but I was getting Dungeon just for the Poly side. I may pick up the occasional issue, but it'll be an issue by issue thing.

About European subscriptions:

Am I the only European who receives his Dungeon mag from the UK? I mean, the stamps and all are from the UK and everything.

I admit I find it kind of a let down that the price change wasn't announced along with the format change because it feels unfair although the price difference is not big. However, if something can be arranged for cheaper European subscriptions (and especially cheaper European 2 and 3 year subscriptions, as opposed to 2 and 3 year international subscriptions), then please look upon it Erik. I mean, it's not that the EU is difficult to reach or something.

Cheers,

Antonius, 3 year European subscriber (under the 'international' scheme).

I picked it up, I think I'll keep trying to pick it up. My new campaign is starting soon and the Mad God's Key will fit right nicely into my Mithril: City of the Golem campaign with a few tweaks.

I like the direction you're going, and look forward to reading Monte's articles (I too felt it was a little basic, but hey, you've got to start somewhere!)

The only thing I noticed is the the "Scaling the Adventure" box in the Adventure Path Module segment was from "Mad Gods Key" but, hey. It was a good purchase, and one I'll likely repeat!

While I agree that they need an 800 # for customer service, the few times I have had to call and leave a message I received a return call within a couple of hours. David and Amanda are both great customer service reps, and both of them worked on my problems with success, and although it took a few days to get things straightened out (not Paizos fault), they were very helpful. They even sent me the issues I missed because of a credit card billing screwup that occured at my bank.

According to their Web site, they do... :)
Ah, poo. And I tried to look it up on their website before submitting my post. My Google skills suck. :D

one more question, for all you long time collectors. how do you store your old mags? in binders, boxes, what?
I have all mine (Issue #1 forward, missing only 3 or so issues) nicely lined up together on one of my bookshelves.
