Dungeon Siege Movie

Kaodi

Legend
I just read the premise of the film on the website linked from the Movie/Television/Game section of the EN World Home Page. Is it just me, or is that more pathetic than anything else you could imagine them doing to the (admittedly) sparse plot? From my point of view, the almost non-existant story of the game is oodles better than that garbage they have come up with.

For those fans of the game, what approach would you take?

Uwe Boll?

Why does this guy keep getting movies? Haven't the studios kind of noticed that his movies are pretty much unversally panned and flop at the box office?

House of the Dead - $22 million total to produce (including mareting) - made $13 million

Alone in the Dark - $20 million, not including marketing, made $6 million

Anyway, this plot actually does seem to follow the game at least. IIRC, you start off as a farmer in that and fight Krugs.

Farmer? FARMER!

Good gawd, that's like a bad Steven Erikson name...

The inclusion of Uwe Boll is automatically going to turn this into a steaming pile of excrement.

He's also trying to get (or already has, depending on the sources) the rights to the first person shooting game Postal. Apparently, it's going to keep all the game characters, but with a new, unique story. In other words, kind of like his other adaptions, it'll have nothing to do with the game.

Of course, from what I've heard, there isn't much story in Postal. I haven't played it, but, apparently, all the game consists of is random violence as you run around shooting, setting things on fire, and peeing on people. Oh, and there's Gary Coleman, too.

Knowing Boll, he'll probably make it a sci-fi film in which everyone swordfights against Vikings. And he'll replace Gary Coleman with the guy who played Doogie Howser.

Why, why...does no one read the page of fantasy, of the science impossible, a little reality check here and there...:( torn,TORN...I am thus...torn by...by this non-reader *sniff, sniff*

You know as a joke in our group whenever someon farts or does something really stupid but wont own up to it they get asked "Who pulled an Uwe Boll".
Man this guy is a moron. House of the Dead sucks, Alone in the dark sucks, i saw the plot and some screen shots to bloodrayne sucks, i saw his idea for Hunter the Reckoning oh man
my first hunter game was better than this.

Hes got to be independantly wealthy cause no one is stupid enough to allow him to keep making movies with his track record.

I dread the day Pual WS Anderson and Uwe Boll decide to collaberate, im sure well see Alien vs Predator vs House of the Dead vs Alone in the dark vs Diablo vs GOD himself, and none of these guys win. That or something thats equally a bad idea.

Plot

Hmmm... if it were me, I would make the lead a girl, like the cover girl from the game itself. Open the movie pretty much like the game, make way through the farmlands and the crypts, to Stonebridge, but I'm not sure where I would take it after this. You can't really put every single area in the game in the movie, except perhaps as a single scene showing them trekking through it. Supporting characters would be the first two RPCs from the game, Merrick, and maybe a nephew of the King to act as the romantic interest, if you felt you needed one.
