Dungeon Survival Guide - PLUS KOBOLD PCS

From the D&D Seminar:

May: Dungeon Survival Handbook: focuses on dungeon campaigns, tips and tricks for DMs as well as ideas for players. Themes with mechanical effects that also tie into the story of the world. The twist is the DM section that shows DMs how to tie the new themes into their adventures.
Does the Dungeon Survival Handbook contain new sub-classes, paragon paths, feats, powers, etc?

The Dungeon Survival Guide contains primary underdark themed powers and new playable races. Some of these racers have been given NPC stats, but now they have full blown PC information. One example would be the goblin.

Do you have any player support for Kobolds in the near future?

Yes, we have Kobolds as a player race in the Underdark book.
KOBOLDS! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Also goblins for those that like them. Wonder if we'll finally see Hobgobs and bugbears.

I have never understood the love for the little buggers.

I do like to use them against low-level parties, though, especially in 4E. They are pretty terrifying.

1) They're little lizardpeople. So like lizardfolk, but small.

2) They are the quintessential "underdog" race. Everyone views them as not legitimate threats, they get pushed around/enslaved/etc by bigger races, they are treated as adventurer fodder.

3) Cunning. Traps, clever strategies instead of brute force, and smart use of limited resources.

4) For me it's their racial mentality/outlook. You know those guys who live in fenced in compounds, stockpiling ammo and fearing the government will come to get their guns? Take that paranoid "protect my territory at all costs" worldview, add a Napoleon complex (we're related to DRAGONS!), and an enormous chip on their shoulder to all the big races that abuse them. That is fun to play.

5) Given all the above, there's an inherent comedic element.

Oh man, playable kobolds and goblins. That's going to make a lot of people I play with ecstatic. They've already been using them when DMs allow it.

I thought we were talking about kobolds, not gnomes

The funny thing is is that when Kobolds made their entrance into LG it heralded the end of 3rd edition. And now at the end of 4th edition we have Kobolds coming again lol.

Kobolds are the jumping the shark for D&D apparently.

It's true. This book looks like the last, 4e-specific product on the 2012 slate. But, better late than never. I love the little buggers. I still pine for a 4e Savage Species, though. I mean... why not?

Let me also chime in with" "Yeah! Kobolds!"

I've wanted them from day one for my campaign - in that campaign, symetry is very important, and I wanted them as the dragonborn version of halflings.

Even if they are the last book for 4e, my campaign is going to grind along as long as possible under 4e (so, basically until its natural conclusion or until they pull DDI support for 4e), so better late than never.

Goblins (and presumably hobgoblins and bugbears as well) as PC races? Awesome! :D
That means the playable races for Eberron and Birthright are finally complete.

Also: Kobolds, yay!

The only thing I still want for 4e is the Epic Tier DMG3, which has a snowball's chance in hell of being developed by the current WotC staff. Oh well. I'll get along without it, and I don't need 5e. :p
