{Dungeoncraft] Campaign Question/Ideas

I've always wanted to run a game in a truly fantastic setting... I should have done so this time, but I chickened out.

That being said, I have a few fantastic settings within my world, one of which is a city whose entire populace has somehow been replaced by constructs of various sorts that act out the normal lives of the people who used to live there.

oooooooooo cool!!

I just need one good hook for my world. Im thinking the Mist or Zodiac thing will do it ... i just need to figure out what to say and how to say it

The mists are easy enough. Just give your players a handout about the state of the world. Preface it with something like:

"Legends say there was once a time when the mists didn't embrace the land, but you struggle to believe it. Many of the elders talk of it often, showing you pictures of a golden ball in the sky they call the sun or explaining how once, a century ago, you could stand on the walls of your town and see the woodlands in the distace. The speak of weapons that fired tiny spears, weapons they used to slaughter the goblin-kin at a distance when they first emerged from the wood. You have never known this. Your life has always been one of alertness and haze, ever prepared for one of the forests goblin-kin to appear out of the haze and plant a dagger between your ribs..."

The explain the rules reguarding the mist - limited movement, miss chances in combat, whatever you decide it really is.

Just emphasize how different things are from our world in the introductiong, and make them realise that this is not their old world. listen checks and blindfighting anyone?

oh i have my hook now ansd my world secret to go along with it.

I even have what races are allowed and which ones arent.

Now its to just start figuring everything else out ...
