Dungeons and Dagon (In character)

The group walk the 8 blocks to the mansion of the town mayor. The city becomes less oppresive as you get farther away from the town square. The cemetary seems to be the least "wrong" place in the whole village so far.
The massive oak doors of Hermiz's home stand before you. Lynaea uses the huge knocker on the door and in a few minutes a withered old man comes to the door.
May I help yo... Ah the travelers. Master Hermiz will see you in the library. Please follow me. The old human shuffles in obvious pain to a room off the main hall and asks you to stay here while he fetches the master.

As he leaves you glance at the library and see more books and artwork that could fill a museum.
(You have a few minutes before Hermiz shows. did anyone want to do anything?)

Pippy cannot help herself. She starts checking out the vast array of books that line the shelves and walls. She is looking for anything that strikes her fancy as being 'different'.

"Wow, what a collection in here."

Lynaea walks around the library a bit, looking at the names of the books she passes by. "This Hermiz must be a smart guy if he read all these."

She'll try and figure out what kind of books Hermiz has on his shelves, and if she comes by one with religious content she'll get it out and read a bit, just to get to know Hermiz a bit before he comes by.

Elbon will pull out a pipe and light it. Taking a long drag from it he sighs. He will glance at some of the artwork and try and gauge their value. Other than that he will enjoy his pipe while he waits.

The shelves are lined with histories of the area and some esoteric manuscripts. Lynaea is just picking up a book and opening it when a very large human (fat as a house) enters the room in a wheelchair. Please Lynaea . Put that book down. It is said to allow the reader to command undead. but to read it makes one suceptable to the control of a demon. Hermiz continues, Thank you all for coming. I have waited for you to ... arive. How may I help you? Despite the obvious need for the chair Hermiz seems to be a middle aged human with a flair for the dramatic.

Lynaea closes the book, putting it back where it came from. "I think it's more a matter of what we can do for you. How can we be of service? Maybe we can talk while enjoying a drink? The day started early and I wouldn't be bothered with some." Lynaea smiles lightly while speaking her words.

"yes, yes," begins Pippy, "what can we do for you? I received a summons to come here to talk to you. I assume that meant that something interesting was happening." She smiles a nice, big, mischievious grin. "A drink would be nice as well."

CAemlynn looked upon the old Human, feeling pity for one so close to Death Embrace...he could almost see the Worms now, crawling in and out of the old man's flesh.
Caemlynn shook such thoughts from his mond, Gods, what a Vision, the Paladin wondered why such a Morbid Vision would have entered his mind.
'Yes, Hermiz, why have you summoned us to this lovely little Thorp, eh?'

This town has always had trouble staying a town. We have had trouble every 30 years or so and I have decided that it has to stop. Hermiz wheels over to a huge tome. This is the history of our town and the troubles that have plagued if for so long. But basicly we have a network of tunnels under the area all leading from the mountains to the west to the sea to the east. Something is living down there but none have been able to survive exploring the caverns.

"This something you speak of... noone has ever identified it? Has anyone ever encountered it and survived? Do we have any idea what we're up against?" Lynaea speaks a bit scared, her face has lost her smile almost instantly.
