Dungeons & Dragons: The Sequel

I'm not sure what to do first, groan or yawn. Little help here, please?

Of course if there are lots of hot babes in chainmail bikinis, maybe it will be better than the first. ;)

I see no mention of Courtney Solomon, which can only be a good thing.

I have not seen His name anyplace since the first DnD movie. Hopefully he has been at film school.

An early 2004 release? Sounds like a direct-to-DVD effort to cash in on RotK. Unless they've been working on it for a year, and had the good sense not to tell anyone about it.

That said, what plotline would you want in a D&D2 script?

I'd suggest a Mummy-style Macguffin chase, with a sense of humor and a dash of flair, and cool-looking fantasy locales. Or Around the World in 80 Days, Realms-style. Anything other than (1) cackling evil wizards bent on world domination, or (2) world-saving adventure. (1) was the first D&D movie, and (2) is LotR, which we've already seen done, and done near-perfectly (detractors, you know what I mean).

Next?

IIRC Sweetpea Entertainment is his production company which the first movie was filmed under. I think he has the rights to two more "D&D" movies. :(

IMO I just hope they get a better director, that I believe was what made the first movie a huge disappointment. Well that and the "Throw-a-rock-to-distract-a-Beholder" moment, I'm still shaking my head at that one and asking myself did he ever play the game? Don't misunderstand me, there are a lot of other problems with the first movie but to me that was the worst.

A classic module, dude!

Dungeons and Dragons 2: The Tomb of Horrors

Come on! Tell me you wouldn't line up for that!

That was my first thought, but to do it right would require a very specific feel - claustraphobic, intense, more like a horror movie. Not a bad idea, but it would require a creative team with a clue.

PS: Oh, that was the other thing: how much name recognition would Tomb of Horrors have outside of gaming circles? I assume they'd try to broaden their audience.

Still, Tomb of Horrors - or the Giants series, with accompanying political intrigue - would make a great gamer movie.
