Cost
Well for arguments sake lets break down the cost comparison of the DwarvenForge System vs. the DungeonWorks system.
DUNGEONWORKS
Material costs:
- DungeonWorks PDF instant download with over 40 items including props = $15.00 US
- 110 LB Cardstock at 110 sheets = $4.50 US
- Everyone keeps bringing up the expense of ink so lets break it down realistically here. Lets take the most popular printer format for example.
www.korectype.com Epson printer cartridges black and color will set you back= $38.00. It is important to note here that the DungeonWorks set only consumes about 1/4 of a standard ink cartridge including multiple corridor reprints. With this in mind you are really only paying about = $9.50 for ink.
- White craft glue and an exacto knife are commonplace in almost any home.
DungeonWorks grand total = $29.00 US
DWARVENFORGE
Material Costs:
- DwarvenForge Master Maze advanced set with 28 corridor section duplicates and no props = $79.00 US (not including shipping and handling)
- DwarvenForge additional corridor or prop purchases can range anywhere from $10-$94.00 US.
DwarvenForge grand total = HUNDREDS of dollars to equal what is included in the DungeonWorks set.
So in the end I don’t think that there can be any argument that the money challenged gamer would be better served building his dungeon on a print on demand system. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the DwarvenForge stuff but it’s just not a realistic financial option for most gamers. I think that visually the DungeonWorks set is at the very least comparable to the DwarvenForge stuff but without the price tag. DwarvenForge may be a little more durable but to be honest the DungeonWorks pieces are as strong as any standard board game. I guess the real benefit in my eyes is that DungeonWorks is infinitely expandable and renewable at a VERY LOW cost. The bottom line for me was to create a product for gamers that did away with the mentality that you have to give away your left testicle to support your hobby…lol… I hope I’ve accomplished that with DungeonWorks. I'll shut up now...lol
