Dunst "reveals" Spider-man 3 villains

Unless she's a complete ditz (which I don't rule out), I would think that Kirsten Dunst would know if they're shooting 3 and 4 together.

Me, I think two villains could work really well under a variety of scenarios. For example: film opens with Spidey fighting Sandman. It's a serious battle that takes 10 minutes of the film, and Spidey barely makes it out a live. The next 80 minutes surround Spidey's life and the eventual battle with Venom.

Seems fine to me.

I think it's a great choice of actors. One of the longest running complaints about Venom is how little resonance there is between Brock and Parker. There was always the potential there to show a real Dark Spiderman, instead of just some brute in a spideysuit, which would have resulted in a much more compelling story. I imagine a large part of casting Grace was due specifically to how much he looks like Maguire, to facilitate that.

Looking at Spiderman 1 & 2, you definitely see the same pattern of villains there. Each one is like Peter Parker in some fundamental way, providing sharp contrast for his heroics. I don't know much about Sandman, but I can't imagine that same kind of connection for his character. I was very worried when they announced him actually, since it looked like they were dipping into the junk villains so soon. Spiderman has some great iconic bad guys, but only a few of them before you quickly sink into lunacy. I mean...The Vulture?!?

Like someone else mentioned, I think Sandman would be better off as a prolonged introductory battle to the film, then quickly move into Venom/Hobgoblin.

This was how I envisioned them dealing with Harry Osborn as the next Green Goblin. That the end of Spidey's battle there would be the lead-in for the third movie.

I can see them going for the Ultimate version of Venom/Brock, which has a much
stronger Dark Spider-Man feel, or a hybrid between the two versions.

In fact, if this is true, I hope they do as I like that version much better.
