Ahh... that's what is not right. You will be ECL 7, as a 1st level Duskblade.Diomeneus said:5th level is 2d8+5 (for stonechild) then another 1d8+5 for 1st level of duskblade.
your first hit dice are always maximized so thats 21, giving you 26+1d8 HP for 5th level. its still low... but it gets substantially higher as it levels up (the +5 REALLY helps)
You Are right about 2 different ways of creating a Stonechild character... one way is to follow table 4-5 in RoS... the other is the way I outlined above. You cannot discount the HD out of the total ECL.Diomeneus said:the stonechild has two different methods of building a character, one which is simply a level adjustment of +4 and another where you start at level one and over the next 5 levels (making 6 levels of stonechild then one more for a duskblade) earn the racial traits (its also the monster class for making an npc one).
mine is simply the level adjustment +4 stonechild, not the one that starts at lvl 1 and levels up in its race.
edit: just figuring out what your LA and all those were... HD means the 2d8 hit die... which you are saying is those two levels of outsider... see now i am confused. I thought that the two levels of outsider were assumed to be a part of the LA +4. If i can't even start taking duskblade until i'm level 7 then there isn't much use in taking it at all to be honest... it would hurt me more then it would help.
why would it not write that the total EFC would be +6? A vampires template mentions its total is +8... this is going to ruin three days worth of research and character building if it really is +6... or heavily modify anyways... probably beyond repair

Golaiths have 0 HD...Diomeneus said:Goliath
HD 1
LA 1
Barbarian 1
that would mean a goliaths minimum is level 3 for a character with a class...
or that any character created has to be level two (for HD 1 and 1 class level)
this doesn't make sense to me...
or are you saying that because it has a racial hit die that gives it hit points whereas the goliath and normal races only get the class HD is whats making it an additional two levels?
could you possibly tell me what book and page the rules for created a character with a level adjustment are? It would probably do me good to simply read through it myself. I always just assumed that you adjusted your level by the amount it said... i could be wrong though
edit: you posted in between my post saying pretty much what i said above about racial hit dice... which makes sense... still screws me, but makes sense, still i wouldn' tmind reading it myself.
