Duskblades & their "quick cast" ability question

Am I right in looking at this and they can cast a spell twice in a round using their "quick cast" ability?

Cast once as a swift action at the beginning of the round, and then cast again as a standard action, assuming the casting time for both is one standard action or less?

Yes, that's right.

(Actually, it would technically only work if the second spell had a casting time of 1 std action, not a std action or less. Since you don't technically get two swift actions per round.)

Yes indeed. My level 10 Duskblade has great fun against scary, unhittable, not-yet-debuffed bad guys by quick-casting true strike and then channeling a Shocking Grasp or Vampiric Touch in a single attack with his Keen great sword. Throw in Improved Critical and it's occasionally VERY impressive :)

Sounds impressive - I'll have to try that, as my bad guy duskblade doesn't have the ability to cast 3rd level spells, but can do true strike, followed by shocking grasp.

and, just to make sure - it's only touch spells that can be cast through the duskblade's sword, not ranged touch as well?

Yes, touch only is my take on it. You have to be up close and personal.

One, Improved Critical doesn't stack with Keen in 3.5, unless the DM houseruled it.

Two, spells that rely on attack rolls CAN get critical hits and do critical damage.

Not if you deliver them with a weapon strike. Because then the spell damage is "extra" and extra damage is never multiplied on a crit.
