Is it just me or is this completely broken?

You toss it into the air. Everybody in 20 feet, even if they save, are stunned for 5d4 rounds. Granted, you are as well, but you could just have the rest of your party stand back. Or use a summoned creature. Am I missing something?

Nope. It's broke.

Lots of people have brought up this point before and it seems tp be one of the few times where almost everyone agrees that the rules ought be changed by the DM to maintain balance. Leave it as is, and there is no reason for everyone who can afford it not to be using it in every fight.

One interesting discussion about this that happened recently was whether mage hand could be used to dump the dust. Since it can't be used on magic items, could it be used to move a mundane bag with magical dust in it? I don't know what people ended up thinking about this, but it was interesting none-the-less.

In any case, don't allow this item in your game.

Very old issue; broken way to slay everything if you happen to have something that grants adaptation (as per the necklace).
