Duties of a Best Man

A bit off topic of bachelor parties, but on-topic with the whole "best man responsibilities":

If you're stumped for a good witty line to use in your toast, I heard this one at a wedding a few years ago:

[Adressing the newly married couple]

"As a symbolic gesture, [Insert Groom's Name Here], place your hand upon [Insert Bride's Name Here] hand. Take a deep, long loving look at that and cherish it here and now, for it is the last time that you will ever have the upper hand in your relationship."

I never had to use it, since the only wedding I was a best man in was my younger brother's, and there was plenty of material there ;)

Sayeth Sam Kennison -

Swing into the wedding on a rope, shoot the bride with a shotgun, then swing back out yelling 'You'll Thank me later!!!!'

Thanks for the great replies.
- restaurant (If I can get a place at the medieval restaurant here in Montreal, I will, but I'm afraid they're booked solid)

Are you refering to l'Auberge du Dragon Rouge? Give it a try, but don't let them sit you on the verranda. We once got moved out there because the interior rooms were full and the staff promptly forgot about us... over and over as we kept going in and asking them if we could get service. We left in disgust after an hour of being ignored and haven't returned since. I never wanted to punch a jovial jester character so much in my life as I did the guy who wished us a good evening as we left.

It's a shame really. I used to really enjoy going there. :\

- table hockey tournament (the groom is a meeeean table hockey player. If we get him drunk, maybe, just maybe some of us will eventually be able to beat him)

Yeah. Nothing beats small bits of hard plastic being struck towards your crotch at high velocities by a drunk guy.

4 Bachelor Parties summed up:

1. Mine, Sucked. I do not drink and would not go to a strip club. But my party consisted of going to an all you can eat place. My best man did nothing.

2. Friend #1: Paintball Party. I did not go (was not invited, not a really good friend)

3 and 4. : Atlantic City, lost money had a horrible time.

Best bet, do what you would normally do, but go all out.

A bit of wisdom he shared about his unorthodox bachelor party: "Some people see a bachelor party as one last stand of debauchery, I see it as a summation of your time as a bachelor. I never drank or went to strip clubs before because I wasn't interested, so why should I now? My time as a bachelor was spent with my friends, gaming and hanging out, just like now."

Yes the bachelor party IS the summation of all the things you did as a bachelor, and all the things you'll NEVER GET TO DO AGAIN.

Hence looking at teh nekkid chicks. :)

For my bachelor party, I'm hoping for paintball, poker, and a strip joint.

The only thing missing to make it 'perfect' would be a marathon session of D&D.
First play paintball to paint your clothes :) Then play strip poker to remove your clothes and then play a marathon session D&D :)
