Dwarf vs Gargantuan Great Axe

first off I gotta say this. A 1-1.5' axe head is small for a 6' long shaft. And yes I do know what I'm talking about as a friend of mine actually smiths axes.

on a side note, would be kinda funny to see the dwarf wield this axe =op

This shows a picture of German Waraxe replica. The axe is 33" in length. Measuring distance, the head appears to be about 35-45% of the length, or 11.55"-14.85". Double the length to 66" (less than the six feet mentioned) and you would have an axe head of 23.1"-29.7". Thus the proportions are in line with my previous post.

Also, the dwarf is wanting the axe to sell. It is a magic axe after all. Finding a buyer will be far from easy, given the size.

They are located in a swamp.

Put the head on a two-wheeled wagon. Pull it. Any other problems you'd like me to solve?

What? No two-wheeled wagon in the vicinity? Spend some time making one.

Realistic-world, no. Fantastic world, yes.

If I were the DM, I would let the Dwarf if he was willing to put up with a lot of silly penalties. But, if it is really that important to him...

Axe Weights

small: handaxe 5 lbs.
medium: battleaxe 7 lbs.
large: greataxe 20 lbs.
huge: greataxe ?
gargantuan: greataxe ?

The book doesn't give a weight for the large and gargantuan great axes, but ...

large greataxe is x3 weight of the battleaxe, so if we followed that formula
huge 60 lbs.
gargantuan 180 lbs.

tripling might not be enough of a multiplication. The weight might actually be closer to 500 lbs.

PHB doesn't have sizes, but I would suspect that the gargantuan axe is between 16 to 20 feet in length. Basically as tall as a Huge creature (just like a large greataxe might be as tall as a size m creature).

So if the Dwarf is strong enough to carry the weight, I'd let him carry it. Think of it as carrying a pole. This one is just a little longer.

The trick will be if he has to navigate around obstacles, or if he can just walk in a straight line.

I told him that with the assistance of 1 other party member (all of which are willign to help) he could carry the axe. He is refusing assistance and being stubborn about wanting to carry it alone.

Remember this isn't just "a pole", this is more like a metal reinforce telephone pole, with a 10' wide slab of forged steel at the end. The slab is probably close to 1-2 feet thick. I don't have a converter for the math on just the weight of steel at that size, but I think my 400 pound estimate was actually a little low. Esp. considering that an engine block (on a v8) weights over 400 pounds and use far less metal than the head of that axe would. Now add in the weight of a telephone pole (which is at least the 400 pounds by itself) and it is getting into heavy range. I think I need to refigure the math on the items weight.

Also, maybe swamp is too nice of a word. The dwarf is currently located on Orthrys (first layer of Carceri) in the swampland surrounding the River Styx. Roughly, 1 mile from the river itself. Also, the party has no transportations spells (teleport, plane shift, etc).
