Dwarven Barbarian Speed

Wondering if anyone can help me on this. I'm not sure if the rules on a dwarf's speed of 20 not being reduced by heavy or medium armor means that the speed is not reduced at all, or just not reduced below 20 feet.

For example, a Dwarven Barbarian in medium armor has a movement of:
a) 20 feet. Base of 20 feet, +10 through fast movement equaling 30 feet, which is then reduced to 20 by the medium armor.
b) 30 feet. Base of 20 feet, +10 through fast movement equaling 30 feet, which is not reduced as a dwarf's speed is not reduced by armor.

Thanks.

Option B: The dwarf does not get slowed down by the armour so 30 feet it is.

If heavy armour is worn it drops to 20 feet, but that is because of the Barbarian class ability, not the effect of the armour.

That's the way I read it too.

"Dwarf base land speed is 20 feet. However, dwarves can move at this speed even when wearing medium or heavy armor or when carrying a medium or heavy load (unlike other creatures, whose speed is reduced in such situations). "

Basically dwarves don't get slowed down because of load or encumberance, so their normal speed prevails.

True, Dwarves can be the fastest things around in heavy armor with the right magic items.
Mithril fullplated barbarian dwarf with Boots of Striding and Springing.

Horrifyingly quick.

How is this any faster than a human Mithril-fullplated barbarian with Boots of Striding and Springing?

The human barbarian, with boots, gets his speed enhanced to 50'. Then stick him in Medium armor and his speed is reduced to 35'. (See the chart in the Carrying Capacity section.)

The dwarf barbarian, with boots, has his speed enhanced to 40'. But he is not slowed down by armor, so he still moves at 40'.

It's faster because it's unexpected.

When Meteorites can come in a hail from a gnome's fingertips. This is unexpected?

Unexpected is a giant purple ape appearing from a miniscule crack in the road, swallowing a cart whole, before rocketing skywards in a green steam. While a low moan erupts from the crack.

Eeek. Stack that dwarf up with charge-based feats, and he can charge 80 feat while raging and kill most things on the other end - and STILL have a massive AC :)
