Dwarven Dogs?

I vaguely remember an article in Dragon some years back (maybe 10 years?) that had information about some breed of dogs common to dwarves (kinda like cooshee for elves) - in fact, the article as a whole might have been about racial dog breeds.

Anyone else recall this?

Anyone might know what issue number it was?

Was it actually from somewhere else and I am misremembering?

Thanks.

I just did a search for "dog" in the Dragon Archive (1-250) and there is only one article about dogs from 1985 and it doesn't fit what you're looking for.

The Scarred Lands has a "Dwarf Hound". I'm sure it's not what you are looking for, and it's a magical beast not an animal, and perhaps a bit too much to easily fit into a "stock" D&D game, but have a look. It's in the Creature Collection (Original and Revised editions).

One strong possibility is 169, with Dragon's Bestiary: Demihuman Pets.

Along wth the yyllethyn (elven horse), crayghe (elven hawk), byut (fey deer), pennig (halfling pony), twill (pocket rat), and stoght (forest gnome fisher), it features the brak twan (dwarven tunnel hound) and the guttar (dwarf ox).

ooh! I think that's it! Now to go into storage and find issue #169! :)

I usually call them "gritsuckers", or "hairy fairy". "Dwarven dogs" is insulting canines :p ;)

Oh, wait, you talk about dogs bread by dwarves. I guess it will be something with short legs? Dachshund, maybe?
