Dwarven Load Bearing and the Run Feat.

How does Dwarven Load Bearing work with the Run Feat? Or with say a Monk's movement?

Dwarves(SRD):
Dwarf base land speed is 20 feet. However, dwarves can move at this speed even when wearing medium or heavy armor or when carrying a medium or heavy load (unlike other creatures, whose speed is reduced in such situations).

Run Feat(SRD):
RUN [GENERAL]
Benefit: When running, you move five times your normal speed (if wearing medium, light, or no armor and carrying no more than a medium load) or four times your speed (if wearing heavy armor or carrying a heavy load). If you make a jump after a running start (see the Jump skill description), you gain a +4 bonus on your Jump check. While running, you retain your Dexterity bonus to AC.
Normal: You move four times your speed while running (if wearing medium, light, or no armor and carrying no more than a medium load) or three times your speed (if wearing heavy armor or carrying a heavy load), and you lose your Dexterity bonus to AC.

Thanks in advance!

As far as I can tell the dwarf's load bearing and a monk's increased speed has nothing to do with their run multiplier only their base speed. So a dwarf in heavy armor, though their base move remains unchanged, has a run multiplier of x3. With the Run feat this would increase to x4.

Same goes for a monk's movement. The monk just has a higher base speed that is multiplied as normal, allowing them to run faster.

The monk movement doesn't apply when you are wearing armor or carrying a medium load. The dwarven ability doesn't affect this, a dwarven monk would still lose the monk speed increase, but they would keep their normal dwarven speed.

Same thing with the Run feat.

However a Monk's speed increase isn't supposed to work when burdened, neither for a Barbarian:

SRD on Monk and Barbarian:

Fast Movement (Ex): At 3rd level, a monk gains an enhancement bonus to her speed, as shown on Table: The Monk. A monk in armor or carrying a medium or heavy load loses this extra speed.

Fast Movement (Ex): A barbarian’s land speed is faster than the norm for his race by +10 feet. This benefit applies only when he is wearing no armor, light armor, or medium armor and not carrying a heavy load. Apply this bonus before modifying the barbarian’s speed because of any load carried or armor worn.

So how would that interact with the Dwarven Load Bearing ability?

Does the class write up 'supersede' the dwarf ability? Or does the Dwarven ability have no bearing as it only affects the Dwarven movement rate of 20'?

I just ask as I have always had a problem with the way movement works in D&D (An asthetic problem. I really don't like how -everyone- pretty much moves at one base speed. Just one of my hang-ups.). And I feel that the Dwarven ability supersedes the classes, after all the Dwarf wouldn't be 'encumbered'.

Thoughts?

So essentially a Dwarf in Heavy armor or carrying a Heavy load is limited to 20' of movement.

Hmmph. I was thinking the Dwarf ability would be better than it is. Oh well. It is only one small part of their uber list of bonuses I guess.
