Well, I am no lumberjack either, and I am reasoning most of this through stereotypes and supposition, but I believe they climb trees to take off most of the branches before felling the main tree portion. I would imagine it is easier to manage a few branches at a time rather than trying to get to the trunk after the tree has fallen and all the branches are still attached and in the way.... but again, just trying to reason it out.darthkilmor said:Also can't you get a masterwork climbers kit? better bonuses and whatnot.
And, since I dont know alot about lumberjacking, what would you be climbing the trees for?

So much for my reasoning skills. That makes sense. Now-a-days, they have huge robot claw type devices that cut, strip limbs and most bark, and stack on trucks... all at once.Evilhalfling said:You climb and trim before cutting, so the tree has a smaller chance of getting hung up in the limbs of other trees. This is very dangerous as it could then fall unexpectedly and kill someone.
