Well, I'm trying to get a feel for the fluff of a thing. What does it mean when you "ignite" a steam fist? When I read the title, I thought it was an oversized gauntlet that extended suddenly, via steam power, putting an extra oomph into an unarmed attack (think the bad cyborg in robocop 2 with his hand extending in a devastating punch). I was thinking it would do very good damage and probably only be usable a few times per encounter or need an action to reset. But I can't see what it would do for a blade or hammer.

Needs more description to flesh out the idea, but seams reasonably balanced considering you need a feat to master the weapons.

You could treat them more like mechanical magical items and give them steam assisted powers (mechanical functions) which over heat or burn out if used to often...

I like these. I can imagine finding them amongst a pile of dwarven treasure, only to have someone put one on and go, "What's this do?" BOOM! It kicks in.

When you 'ignite' the steam-fist, you start up the small steam engine built into it to crush enemies with intense pressure. Otherwise it's just a glorified gauntlet.
The Steam-Claw is the same thing, but the fingers have blades on them.
The Steam-Drill is a modified steam-fist that has a drill attached where the hand would be.

I'm also thinking of a weapon called the Steam-Dragon. Think Voltron here. It's basically a big steam-powered gauntlet with the hand shaped like a dragon head. When ignited it can breath out steam as a ranged attack.
