Definitely they have beards. Sure they can shave, but they only would if in disgrace.

A dwarven female without a beard is a girl, not a woman. A dwarven male who slept with a beardless dwarven female would feel like a pedophile.

At least, in my campaign.

I would like to know where Tolkien talks about the procreation habbits of the Dwarfs. And what he says about the nature of female Dwarfs.

Dig out your copy of Return of the King. Turn to Appendix A, part III. A couple of pages before the end of Appendix A there are two paragraphs set off from the other material by blank lines. The first begins "Dís was the daughter of Thráin II." In my 1981 Allen & Unwin edition this is p450, and it faces the family tree of "The line of the dwarves of Erebor". Read those two paragraphs.

Biologically, what causes facial hair is largely related to chemicals and such in the blood at puberty -- chemicals such as Testosterone, for instance.

So if dwarven women have full on beards, it implies that they're as laden with typically male juices as, say, female hyenas (who even have penises).

Bit of a leap, there. In humans facial hair is related to male hormones, but the same is not true among, say dogs. Or monkeys. Or hyaenas. There is no necessary reason to suppose that it must be true among dwarves.

Quite right. All Dwarves are born with beards.

I prefer the Falkenstein way, but with elves rather than nymphs.

This explain easily why elves and dwarves, while not overtly warring, despise and grumble about each other so much. It's just a cold gender war.

So, there's no female dwarf, as the Auld Grump said, and there's no male elf (as everyone may have constated).

This explanation also allow to stop once and for all the common saying that all elves are gay. It's false. They are lesbian, not gay.
