Dynamic (for Laptop Users) Character Sheet ?

I was wondering if there existed any Dynamic Character Sheets for D&D - Meaning that Laptop users can apply effects (Class abilities, Spells, Powers etc) directly to their character [while playing!] and the Sheet updates all values to reflect the activation of those effects... (Ex: you activate the Raging ability for your Barbarian)

I want to know because the next major upate to my Sheet will feature just that - and I was wondering if I can claim that only TOS allows that (I did not find any that allows that, but I probably missed some)

I made a small video (3 megs) to show what I am talking about (I suggest you "Save Link As" to your Hard Disk as it does not seem to 'stream' very well in browsers - I will make a better Video later). Only part of the Laptop Worksheet is visible, but enough to demonstrates how The Only Sheet can dynamically apply Effects! (NOTE: this is still in developement)

Many Laptop users of The Only Sheet have requested this feature, and version 8 will give it to them!!

Oh and I am not English... hence the French accent!!

I recall seeing a sheet for PCGen that had a button that showed the Rage ability applied. There's also for Full Defense.

If you use the program itself during the game, there are temporary abilities (like Rage) that you can apply and then look at your character sheet in the program.

DM's Familiar (mine) can handle buff/nerfs but it's a combat manager, not a character generator. I imagine the other combat managers can do it as well, the ones that are character generators/combat managers might do it (DM Genie, Roleplaying Master). Nice feature though.

Did it have buttons for all applicable ability, condition, spells, powers etc ... or just Rage? (a button to "Enlarge", a button to "Reduce", a button when you are "stunned", a button for "Hasted" etc... ?)

That would sounds like a large amount of buttons !!

On the *.htm generated sheet, no. However, many (if not all) conditionals are available to be added to the character as you have PCGen up, and there is a character sheet in PCGen.

There are not many. My friend is making one in Excel. In fact, yours is the only other sheet I've heard of that was advertised as "dynamic". I have a primitive version of a dynamic sheet. I just plug in modifiers, there aren't any easy "Rage" buttons, but it works for me. My friend's sheet has a list of effects that you just click on or off to activate. I'd share it, but it's not even close to finished.

Anyway, I don't think you should claim that it's the only dynamic sheet. Even if it is the only commercial/freely available sheet right now, it won't be for very long.

I suggest making your own in Excel. I have a character sheet for Excel that calculates everything. Makes it easy for adding effects and such. But the way I did my sheet probably wouldn't appeal to everyone. I know that I have yet to find another excel sheet that I like. Making your own is a good way to go. But time consuming.

I use Excel for character sheets, which I customise with 'rage', 'prayer', 'power attack' and various other fields as necessary.

Of course the question on my lips is ... is it Mac compatible.

As always I'm willing to give you feedback :)

Most versions of MAC Excel cannot run the Sheet properly (The Sheet was submitted to Apple, and they discovered a Flaw in Mac Excel... But God know if Microsoft will fix it or not). Some Mac users have this error, other don't ... I've no idea what the difference is between their systems!!

Does your friend's version takes into consideration the Stacking rules? I found that to be quite challenging!

Perhaps "Dynamic" is not the right word... How do you describe the little video shown? Dynamic Integration? Online Integration? If you have a better name for what The Only Sheet will do, please share it with me !!

I just finished work on Integrating Spells and Powers. I have integrated 59 Powers, and 112 Spells - All these will be SELECTABLE in the Laptop worksheet!! There are 36 Conditions which are also integrated.. !

hehe interesting advise :D
I have been working almost 3 years on The Only Sheet and I've never claimed it "calculates everything" .. !! Actually, I have plenty of Suggestions from Users to keep me going, and going, and going...! Well, you sure are correct about Time Comsuming !!

P.S. If you missed it, a review of the Sheet was posted by the folks of d20 Magazine Rack !
