E1: Tomb of Chaos [Judge: Patlin] [Concluded]

Rodimus retaliates to the gnoll that wounded him with a snapping kick. If it is still standing after that, he continues with a headbutt, otherwise he directs it to the flanked gnoll.
[sblock=OoC] Flurry of Blowing. Attacks (and their damages) 17 (6) and 16 (11). In later rounds, use grappling. Touch attack at +6 (1d8+3, x2), grapple bonus +10.[/sblock]

Percy

Percy doesn't want to risk firing into combat when her friends are in melee. She does think the party can handle this set of foes. She will attempt to give her friends an advantage by confusing the attackers. She'll also stay behind her halfling protector.

OOC: Cast daze on the gnolls, starting with the big one facing Gorefoot first. If it falls, she'll aim her spell next against one of Ishmael's opponents. She'll cast daze each of the next three rounds unless something changes. Will save DC 13

Not discouraged by his inadequate sword handling, Nars continues his attack.
OOC:
[SBLOCK]Assuming the flanked gnoll is still standing, full attack. primary attack (1d20+7=23, 3d6+3=11)
secondary attack (1d20+6=24, 3d6+2=11) The damage should be +1 instead of +2, so 10 damage.
If the flanked gnoll is downed anytime during the round, Nars will move to take any remaining attacks. Any gnolls not flanked do not take the 2d6 sneak attack. If the second attack kills the gnoll, he will step over its body. Future rounds, he will try to make his way around the north part of the room, flanking and attacking. If necessary to flank, he will tumble (+8) to avoid attacks of opportunity, and fight defensively (17+3=20 AC, +7-4=+3 primary attack before flanking bonus)

Ishmael, assailed by two of the jackal-folk, drew back and summoned forth the divination that allowed him uncanny clarity in battle. He touches his hammer to the miniature wooden target that hangs from his neck, then points to one of the gnolls.

Netharin seeh loch'lorin! Draconic:
I hold your doom in my right hand!

His headache swells but it is quickly overwhelmed by the urgency of the combat.

OOG: On the first round, Ishmael will take a 5 foot step back and cast True Strike. In the next round, he'll loose his shield (move action) and go for full 2H power attack (see combat stat below) on one of the gnolls, stepping in a position to Cleave just in case. Afterward, he'll take up his shield again and continue attacking the gnolls as normal.

Combat Statistics:
[sblock] Ishmael: AC: 23 +1 (Dodge feat) or 21 +1 (unshielded), Touch: 14 +1, FF: 20, HP: 40
Warhammer +8, +9 when mounted, 1d6+3, 20/x3
Barkskin duration 30 mins
Relevant Feats: Cleave

Full Power Attack: +5 to hit (+20 with True Strike), 1d6+12, 20/x3

Seeing Nezrak step into the gap so that Percy is covered by the two of them, Gorefoot lashes out with a heavy blow towards the gnolls midsection, but swing is a little too wild.

[sblock=Combat Statistics: ]1d20+5=9

As long as Nezrak continues to stand next to him, Gorefoot will continue to power attack for 3 against this gnoll. Otherwise, he only power attacks for 1.

Stats if power attacking for 3:
Greatsword +1, +5 to hit, 1d10+11 damage

Stats if power attacking for 1:
Greatsword +1, +7 to hit, 1d10+7[/sblock]

[Round 3]

Percy raises her hand palm forward and shouts "Hey!" to the larger gnoll in front of Gorefoot. The gnoll looks up and is momentarily distracted by her spell.

Nezrak energizes his off hand and steps forward to strike at the stunned gnoll. His hand slips easliy past the gnolls wavering defenses and sends a shocking blast of energy coarsing through the monsterous creature. Despite the injury the creature remains standing.

Rodimus' flying feet both smash into the gnoll's body. It crashes to the ground battered and bruised.

Sir Ishmael retreats a step taking a moment to steady his next powerful strike. Netharin seeh loch'lorin! he shouts in draconic, energy visibly coating the warrior.

The two gnolls in front of Ishmael take advantage of his retreat to move around him, surrounding the halfling and his mount. With his heavy armor, the gnoll's axes find little purchase clanging off the metal hauberk.

The gnoll surrounded by Nars and Rodimus attacks the half-orc hoping to strike the unarmed monk. His choice is rewarded when he nearly takes off the monk's head with his axe. Despite the threat of beheading the monk is able to roll with it and block the attack with his arm, reducing the severity of the injury.

Nars takes advantage of the gnoll's attack to eviserate the creature. Both swords strike with such brutality that the gnoll's body lies in twain upon the floor and both Nars and Rodimus are satisfyingly covered in black blood.

Gorefoot fails to strike the larger gnoll dispite its distraction.

The large gnoll shakes its head to clear the confusion. With renewed senses it readies itself for the next attack. "Hintag will drink to your death puny half-creature!" Not that the threat carries much weight at this point.

[Round 4]

Percy raises her hand again, attempting to distract the gnoll with another "Hey!". This time however the gnoll smiles as it brings it's weapon into a more hostile posture.

Nezrak draws his longsword and slashes at the gnoll inflicting a greivous wound. Still the large creature remains standing.

Rodimus, relieved that the two gnolls that had surrounded him are dead, turns to find another has moved in behind him to attack Sir Ishmael. Reaching over Rodimus grabs ahold of the gnoll pinning one of its arms behind it's back.

Sir Ishmael crushes the other one into paste, his power attack, true strike combination not going to waste.

The gnoll fails to escape Rodimus' grapple.

Nars moves towards Rodimus, but hesitates to stick his swords into the grapple.

Gorefoot in a stunning move leaps up and hews the head from the large gnoll with his greatsword. The gnolls head falls to the floor between the halfling's feet as he lands.

[sblock]Damage Recap:
Rodimus (17/34)
1 gnoll remains, it is grappled and injured.
all other gnolls are dead or dying.

Edit: forgot map... :)[/sblock]

Pumbed up with adrenaline, Rodimus considers twisting the pathetic creature's arm further than it is meant to go. But, as tempting as the idea of tearing a joint or two is, he comes to the conclusion that his current company might not take kindly to violence for its own sake.
The half-orc decides to merely twist the arm as far as it goes without causing too much permanent damage and otherwise immobilize the gnoll in case somebody wants to talk with it.

[sblock=OoC]Keep the thing Pinned for now. If it is asked questions, allow it to speak, otherwise keep its mouth shut too.[/sblock]

Ishmael staggers in the saddle, but rights himself before anyone notices. He remains mounted and keeps a watch on the gnoll's corridor of origin, while the party deals with the enemy.

Percy

Percy smiles at the victory, having gotten used to gratuitous bloodshed at this point. She gives Gorefoot a pat on the shoulder as she passes. "Thanks, Fondar." she murmers.

Approaching the captured gnoll, she assumes a sterner countenance. "Speak! How many gnolls are left back there? Who is your leader!?"

If it doesn't seem to understand, she'll glance around and ask, "Uh...anyone speak gnoll?"

OOC: standard Bolts remaining: 18 of 20
Spells used(lvl 0/1/2): max: 6/7/4. Now 4/5/4

Nars wipes blood from his face with his sleeve and cleans his blades on the dead gnolls hide. Noticing the blood already drying in his beard, he lets out a "Hrmph" and mutters under his breath. He sheaths his off hand sword for the moment. The observent will notice hand dip under his cloak as he turns his back for a moment.
Spot DC 13 [SBLOCK]Nars takes a short nip from his flask.[/SBLOCK]

If the questioning in Common proves fruitless, he gives Orc and Goblin a try, "She, er, said, ah, how many other dogfaces." (assuming that orcs and goblins don't have a politically correct name for gnolls)

Nars keeps his eyes and ears open for signs of more opponents. He will not move on before searching through the largest gnoll's belongs. He seemed a little brighter than the rest and may have been carrying something useful.

OOC: Bolts remaining 29 of 30
[SBLOCK]It looks like it worked out better that Nars did not attack so that we can question the gnoll, but as far as I know, there are no penalties for making a melee attack into a grapple. In fact, the defender loses his/her dex bonus so its actually easier to hit a grappled opponent and Nars would get his sneak attack.[/SBLOCK]
