E1: Tomb of Chaos [Judge: Patlin] [Concluded]

Nars pauses to listen (+4) at the wooden door to his right. If he does not hear anything, he gives it a once over looking for traps (1 round) and tries to determine the purpose of the door.
If seems like a normal door that is used a lot, he says quietly back to his companions, "Doors, er, right and left. I'll, ah, open the right one."
If it seems like a formidable door that is expected to remain closed most of the time (vault, prison, etc), he'll make a careful examination (take 20) searching for traps, and then says the same to his companions.
After disabling any traps and letting his companions move up, Nars will open the door, first trying with his sword drawn and then using his lock picks if necessary.

OOC: [SBLOCK]Search +9, Open Locks +12, Disable Device +12
I'm fighting the urge to take 20 on ever single thing. If any of the other player's characters feel Nars is taking too much time or being too reckless, please make an in character comment.[/SBLOCK]

Listening at the door, Nars is unable to hear any sounds from the other side. It feels like a pretty solid door. A quick search over the door seems to indicate that it is not used very often. It looks quite heavy and there are not many scuff marks around the handle. Taking a bit more time to make a careful examination reveals little else though. Nars does not find that it is even locked. Putting away his lock picks he draws his sword and goes to open the door. However, he finds that it is quite stuck and will require considerable effort to open.

"Hmph. Shoddy construction," mumbles Nars. He thinks Typical of a wooden door. Should be built of stone."

He begins examining the stone door, leaving it up to Percy to determine if they want to unstuck the door before or after checking out the other room.

Percy

"The gnolls must have been here. I wonder why they didn't make more effort to penetrate these domains. I fear there may be something else here the gnolls feared. Let's continue around the corner before we spend too much time on this one door."

Rodimus hopes they'll run into some more gnolls soon. He's getting bored with just walking around.

[sblock=OoC] Note that the boredom is completely in-character. Personally, I'm having lots of fun :)[/sblock]

The stone door on the left wall also looks quite heavy. A search of the door does not reveal any traps, locks or indeed even any handles. There are large scratches in the surface as if some mangy cur had tried to bash his way in with an axe. It would require some effort once again to open this door.

Dalamar: [sblock]Excellent glad you are enjoying it. I am trying to keep up the pace and everyone is helping out greatly. There'll be combat soon enough (just open a door :))[/sblock]

Peaking around the corner Nars sees a door on his left, a door a little further down on the right, a corridor leading off to the right further from that and at the very end it appears like the hall ends in a door. From this distance and angle he can't really tell the makeup of each door.

This heavy stone door is made from a single piece of marble. It shows obvios signs of the gnolls' attempts at forced entry. A complex series of delicately carved glyphs once adorned the center of the door but has now been partially destroyed by the gnolls' untender ministrations, and much of it has been rendered illegible. The door does not appear trapped or locked, though once again there is no handle or obvious way to open it.
