E2: The Secret of Gemhold [Patlin Judging]

Nars starts at the moving trees, even after all the other oddities he has seen in his adventures. I suppose I will never stop seeing surprises, he thinks, though a little more fondly than he might have a year ago.

Nars ponders as the greetings are exchanged. His instincts tell him to stay out of the keep and keep picking off those that venture outside until the goblins are forced to take the fight out in the open. But he has seen the supplies necessary to keep a dwarven army fed and happy and while these slender folks likely eat less than a dwarven warrior, it would still be difficult to keep such a force assembled and harmonious for a long seige.

"I, er, could go in invisible and, ah, try to get the, er, gate. If it, ah, goes badly, the rest could, er, make an assault on the, er, downed walls with Percy and Nezrak, ah, clearing the way with, ah, some magics."

OOC: We could send Nars in invisible with the rest of the force ready to spring into action if trouble should occur. If Nars is noticed, the warriors can charge in and Nezrak and Percy can drop fireballs near the places the wall is falling down to clear out any opposition there. Otherwise, he can open the gate and probably jam it open with disable device and then everyone can charge in.

Rodimus looks suspiciously at the forest literally coming to life. He finds it impossible to be at ease, constantly looking around in case one of their "allies" decides to attack.

Gorefoot nods to Nars, and then says, "I should be on the front line. Those giants will be dangerous. I'll lead the group that goes after them."

Percy claps her hands as the fey make their appearance. "Oh goodie. I'm so glad you're all here! Let's see now. We've got some stealthy hunters and archers. You guys could be good covering an attack, taking position in the trees and shooting at any enemy on the wall."

"We've got some pixies, dryads a petal and thorns. I'm not so familiar with what you do. How would you like to participate?"

"And we've got some trees. You look great, and are more than a match for this ugly giants I'm sure. Can you sneak up to the tree line w/o being detected? At night, perhaps? Then you could move in when the main attack comes."

"Our group is too big to sneak everyone in. But maybe its worth trying to sneak a one or two in. "

"It seems to me that the best place to focus our attack is the fractured wall on the North. We can sneak much closer to there by hugging the cliff to the North, and moving to the closest trees to the West. If we could get Nars, and maybe Ridik in there first, they could delay, or disrupt any counterattack, or attempt to close that entrance. I say we attack in the morning, when it's full light."

"We Thorns are best in close combat, though we will defer to you. Our friends can cause havoc on a battlefield causing roots and vines to tangle your foes, putting many people to sleep or just sowing confusion. The treants are best in seiges, for they can destroy the very walls these cowardly wicked goblins hide behind. They can slowly move the whole forest closer if we gave them time, animating the very trees around us." replies the thorn.

"Do you need to rest tonight?" asks Cenerieth of the group. "My men could do with some before tomorrow, though we will set up watches."

"Yes. I need to rest tonight." says Percy. "But I think we're ready to attack tomorrow. No point waiting around. Everyone will do what they do best. If you treants can move the trees closer overnight, so much the better. Do you Treants need to sleep?"

"What did the rest of you guys think about our plan? I'm thinking maybe Rodiums should go with Nars, to get in first. I can turn you both invisible, and you could get a surprise attack. That would be the signal for everyone else to attack. I'll try to take out any concentration of foes with my fireballs. I'd love to hit the giants before anyone else. And I'll be sure to put some magic armor on Rodimus before he goes in."

"Do you think it would be possible to fight on our ground indetad on theres. I think our ocmpanion is more familiar in a forest and the goblin must knows well there own fortress." tells Ridik

I can turn you both invisible, and you could get a surprise attack. That would be the signal for everyone else to attack.
"I, er, think the, ah, gate opening, er, should be the signal. If only, er, Rodimus and I could, ah, talk without them hearing. I don't want, ah, to stumble into Rodimus when, ah, we're invisible."

After Ridik speaks, Nars comments, "I, er, don't see a way to, ah, get them out in the, er, open."

"I think we should skip the gate." says Percy. "Let's go through the gap in the wall. By going first, though, you could make sure there are no traps or other obstacles that would make that too difficult. If it does look impractical, you could try to open the gate instead."

"As for bringing them out, we could lay seige. Kill any hunters they send out. But that might take awhile. They might be able to supply themselves from the inside. And we would relinquish the initiative."

"Gorefoot needs to get in there to fight. Some of the hunters might go in, too, but they primarily use arrows. I'm not sure where I'd be most effective."

"I can shoot a fireball about 650 feet. So I could probably hit the giants from in that tree. My magic missiles can go about 160 feet. I could probably use those from the tree as well. Maybe I should station myself, there, if Nars could help me climb it."

OOC: Is each square on the map 10 feet?
