E2: The Secret of Gemhold [Patlin Judging]

A search of the portion of the large cave north of the stalagmite reveals little. In conducting his search, Nars sees that the passageway to the left extends further around a bend. In addition the cave opens up beyond the stalagmite a significant amount though he can just see the opposite wall.

Rodimus is impressed: the small goblin actually seems to have a resolve. He stops and actually crouches down so that the cleric can better deal with his wounds.

The cave opens into quite a large room. There are two passageways off to the east and west as well as what looks like a cistern along the far wall a little off towards the left.

Percy eye the cistern suspicoiusly. Fresh water, probably, but somehow, she doesn't want to go near it. "Let's start with the NorthEaster passage." She suggests to Nars.

"Rodimus, do you feel up to leading again? Maybe we should just all stick together. Gorefoot & Rodimus in front. Me & Nars next. Ridik & Nezrak in the rear."

Nars forms up at Percy's command. He does his best (though is likely impaired from being in the middle) to scan ahead of the group for any unstable rock, roots that might snag a foot, or other more nefarious traps.

Rodimus takes the lead heading back around the stalagmite and taking the party along the north eastern passage. He leads the group past a few twists and turns until he can see that the corridor seems to double back on itself and head south west. At the bend a pool of water has gathered.

"Well. We're not actually afraid of a pool of water, are we? That's probably why the drake chose to live here, a good water source."

Percy urges the group to keep moving.

Rodimus eyes the puddle warily; mushrooms already attacked him today, and they had faced living fire before. He then proceeds down the tunnel.

[imager]http://www.enworld.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=29239&stc=1[/imager]Rodimus leads the party past the corner. The tunnel narrows considerably forcing him to squeeze through. Its not too hard so he continues down that corridor on the other side which gently curves back towards the big room (and the southeastern tunnel there). Gorefoot, Nars, Percy, and Nezrak all pass through without too much trouble.

As the little goblin starts to move past the tight squeeze (with more ease than the big folk) what at first seemed to be a small pool of water gathering at the base of the wall suddenly slithers into action, mounding up in the center like a shuddering pile of transparent slime. A whip-like tendril extrudes from the edge of the mass, cracking in the air as it lashes out at Ridik.

[Surprise Round]

4 tendrils reach out from the transparent ooze striking at Ridik. Three connect with ease battering the cleric. Ridik feels his body become rigid as the ooze's secreations paralyze him preventing the little guy from even calling out for help.

What kind of a sucker DM would I be not to take you up on that one :)

Ridik is hit for 7 non-lethal damage and is paralyzed failing only 1 of 3 saves.

The others don't yet know he's missing as he hasn't made any sound yet. There is a narrow corridor to squeeze through for Medium creatures to get back to him.[/sblock]
