Pathfinder 1E E6 and Pathfinder

So I finally remembered to read the info on E6 here on the boards. Really nifty-looking.


Question: has anyone discussed E6 and Pathfinder?


Secondary question: Did E6 ever attempts play at, say, level 12, 16 or 20? It seems like one method of Epic level rules, to me.

Towards the end of that thread there is a bit of discussion about it, and I've seen scattered posts on these boards and the Paizo ones. (nothing bookmarked, but a quick google found this discussion)

I'm juuuuust about to start a new Pathfinder campaign and we're seriously considering going E6. We're just debating between E6 and E8, as a few of the classes don't get what would be 'capstone' abilities until 8th level. A good solution might be to introduce 'capstone' feats for each class, giving them the abilities from levels 7/8 without introducing 4th level spells.

Other than a wider range of class abilities, I really don't think E6 Pathfinder will work much differently than a 3.5 E6 game. A few things have changed levels in PF - off the top of my head, Leadership now has a level requirement of 7.

I was wondering about E8 also. I remember a game where my dwarven fighter had just enough going for him that he could take out a hag in a round. Not fun for the DM, who was relatively new. It was level 7. Before that, we were going along relatively fine.

The abilities I was looking at, for the Sorcerer, there are the 9th level abilities. These tend to include things like flying wings and the ability to summon loads of skeletal hands from the earth... cute, I suppose, but nothing that spells don't already cover (albeit with a different skin to them). Still, certain spells do change play to be more... colorful than gritty; I find flight is one of them.

I think Paladin Mercies are needed, and not too bad for a more experienced E6 party. Maybe require at least 3 abilities from each suite before picking from the next highest level?
