Earlier D&D: did you use supplements/expansions?

For Basic I use the Gazetteer line and the Creature Crucible ones. Basically, I'll decide when I buy a "new" supplement if it's going into the game or not.

I didn't play 1st edition for long, but I did get to use the Unearthed Arcana with it.

AD&D 2nd ed is the game I've played the most and for that I use all the "Complete Books" that I have (all except for Sha'irs, Ninja's and Barbarians), plus Tome of Magic, Forgotten Realms Adventures, Greyhawk Adventures, and some of Dragon Kings. Combat & Tactics will probably never be used, but High-Level campaigns, Skills & Powers and the other Player's Option will. Mostly these extra books are used at PC creation for races and kits, and in game for spells. Rarely do we use the rules from those books.

I used the brown splat books for 2e. It got out of hand. I was much happier after I took it back to the core.
