D&D (2024) Early access to 2024 books in DnDBeyond is tied to subscription tier.

Why is that crappy? Shouldn't their be perks for paying more? It seems like a very harmless perk to me. After all, as I don't pay for a subscription, I can still get the material. Just a couple weeks later. This seems entirely reasonable to me.
It seems what is plainly obvious to me is incomprehensible to you. Paying for early access is crappy. You think it’s great. Cool.

I didn't say it is great (don't put words in my mouth please) - I'm not paying for it after all. I just don't think it is crappy. I just think it seems perfectly reasonable to me.

I can also understand why you don't like it (it is not "incomprehensible" to me), but I don't think that makes it crappy. Maybe I am just more patient? IDK, I don't typically have a lot of patience!

For me, the incredible crappiness was the system before this... you had to preorder the Physical + Digital Bundle (in advance) to get early access. (If you were late and bought it in the week before the actual release, you still had to wait for access).

Preordering just the Digital book? No early access for you!

As it stands, I'm a Master tier subscriber, which I expect means that two weeks before the release date, I and the players in my campaigns will have access to the books. I will be disappointed if it's just me, but I think content sharing should still work. (It has for the other early access preorders).

So, while it costs me more to be a Master tier subscriber, I've got ten players who don't need to buy the books.

Cheers,
Merric

Yeah, that's an almost identical situation for me. If it works this way -- as it appears to -- that's great for my players. (And we often pool the funds for these sorts of books, as well.)

The last few releases have required the DIGITAL + PHYSICAL bundle preordered to get the early access.
yes, that was my point, they did not also require a subscription - or are you suggesting that the subscription is enough and you do not need a preorder as well?

I can now do a digital-only preorder, get them early, and support my game store, and share with my players.

(In fact, the Master tier requirement does prod people towards game stores who get it early).

Cheers,
