D&D (2024) Early access to 2024 books in DnDBeyond is tied to subscription tier.

You didn't answer any of his actual points, you just engaged in nastiness. Nastiness isn't an argument.

The idea that Patreon is the same as buying a product is patently false.
Because their points are wrapped up in how they feel about buying a product vis a vis the size of the company. It’s not false.

It's pretty rude and crappy because they'll be getting access before other people who paid for the same content are getting it, which is a bad double-standard.
No, they didn't pay the same. The early access people have a paid account. The specifically paid more.
That's crappy whoever does it, in whatever context. It's just a little bit of greed on the behalf of Beyond.
I don't see it as greedy. I mean they are giving additional perks to people who already have a paid account for no extra cost to them. It is an incentive to purchase a paid account, and I guess that is a little bit greedy, but no more than selling any service.
Even you seem to agree that it's crappy but for some reason you seem to think it being "normal" means it's not crappy? That's a little confusing.
No, I specifically said I don't like it. That doesn't mean it is crappy. I don't like it because I am selfish and don't have much patience. That has nothing to do with the idea that giving perks to paying customers is somehow crappy.

There are a lot of reasons not to like WotC or DDB, but for me, they don’t stem from whether DDB is useful - I’ve used it, it’s clearly cool and helps run D&D games immensely. But I personally don’t like the lock-in, subscription mindset and I don’t like that if I buy something there, it can potentially be changed or restricted after I’ve paid for it. I’m opting for physical products and enjoying the non-D&D world for now. But I don’t see what harm was specifically caused here with the two week early access either. 🤷‍♂️

Whatever way you want to look at it, it is a product and access that you are paying for whether it’s an individual or a company.
no, as I just explained it is about more than early access to a single product, that you had to ignore all of that is telling…

You just feel better looking at it through then lens of Patreon feeling more personal.
it is more personal since patreons are not for large companies

You’re getting the 2024 books.
by being a subscriber or by preordering them? I understand it is the latter, being a subscriber just gives you ‘early access’ if you do

If I go over to MCDM, Patreon access used to get me access to their Arcadia magazines, some of their classes, etc but things change.
they stopped the magazine, you can hardly fault them for providing access to what they do create instead of something they no longer do

Other than the warm fuzzies about supporting an individual creator? You’re paying for and getting a product either way.
no, in that case I just buy the finished product once it is done, as I am doing with the 2024 books, regardless of whether I subscribe to DDB or not

I get that a lot of folks that have a bone to pick with WotC (and/or the subscription business model in general) want to paint this in a sinister light, but I'm not seeing it. My master tier subscription has been a huge benefit
here is a novel idea, give early access to preorders of the physical + digital bundle and to subscribers instead of stopping the former… no one has a problem with giving subscribers access, it is the stopping the early access that they used to give that the complaints are about

For the most part, I buy digital only these days, which means I haven't gotten early access, so I see this as a nice extra
reads like ‘it does not affect / actually benefits me, so why should I care’

Plus, from everything I've seen in the various preview articles, it sounds like gaming stores will also be getting books early, so if people don't want to buy them on DDB, they can just head to the FLGS and buy a copy
missing the point entirely
