easy question, concentration checks

I'm in the 2 checks camp. They're two separate attacks and should be dealt with separately.

Unless, of course, you would allow the wizard to make only one saving throw versus poison if both of these attacks were poisonous. ;)

IMHO the most self-consistent interpretation of the rules is too disallow simultaneous actions -- even though our RL common sense allows for the possibility. The RAW do not allow two quickdrawing crossbowslingers facing off at high noon to simultaneously kill each other, even if they roll the same initiative. I prefer to not make a special case for AoOs.
Regardless of initative orders or the like, the rules are clear. While you may prefer a multiple check system, that isn't the way it was designed.

Under your theory, how would you handle the mage who suffers from 2 AoOs, and is on fire, and suffering from acid? Would you make him take 4 checks?

Not only are the rules clear, but they make sense. It makes sense that it would be much more difficult to keep casting while taking 2 AoOs, being on fire and suffering from acid. But if you break it down into 4 seperate checks (or even 2 checks) then you dilute the effectiveness of the AoOs (or whatever the damage sources are).

Again, I understand that you may wish to make this change, but you cannot find a rule written to support it as is. The rules clearly state that if damage is taken while casting a spell (from any source, or any number of AoOs) then you make a single concentration check = DC 10 + amount of damage + spell level.

My understanding is that during the round Nothing...Nothing takes place at the exact same time. Everything breaks down to initiative. So all damage is handled in initiative order. In the end I don't think it matters other than all the damage is seperate and therefore seperate rolls. What order may only matter for the AofO becuase someone may not want to waste their AofO if the spell is disrupted by other damage and such. Then initiative order does matter. I , myself, am not that grandular or picky. Take the attack or not I don't waste game time figuring out the exact order but I'm just not that picky and ignore the rules as needed.

Please. Yours is as much of an interpretation of the rules as anyone else's, and most other people in this thread have the advantage of a)Actually understanding how the system works, instead of blindly hinging something on a single unclear sentence in the SRD b)Not repeatedly making themselves sound like a pompous south end of a north-bound horse...

You can't use this situation to force a single higher Concentration check any more than four adventurers can hit something all at once and cause a Fort save vs. death from massive damage if their attacks all add up to more than 50 points.
