Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Delayed Until December

A cover defect is to blame.

Eberron: Forge of the Artificer will now launch in December 2025 due to a cover defect. Wizards of the Coast announced that the upcoming Eberron: Forge of the Artificer rulebook is being delayed for several months after warping was discovered on the covers of published books. The entire original print run of the book is being recalled and reprinted ahead of its release, which means that the production process will be extended by several months.

As a result of the production delay, the book will now be released on December 9, 2025, with early access happening two weeks prior. To make up for the delay, both digital and physical customers who pre-ordered their books as a WPN store will receive an Eberron mini-adventure when they receive their book.

A similar delay took place in October 2023 when the Deck of Many Things product was recalled due to faulty product just two weeks before its initial release. That was re-released in January 2024.

This is one of those times when I say "correct me if I'm wrong," and really mean it. Is this the first recent book from WotC that has been softcover? All the books and adventures I've seen from them in stores are hardback. So is it potentially a case of a new printer or a printer that hasn't done this format for them before?

There have definitely been box sets containing non-hardback books (e.g. the original 5e Starter Set), but I can't recall any physically published standalone non-hardbacks. The Elemental Player's Options (or whatever it was called) was a softback when I ordered it as a POD from Drivethru, but I don't recall if hardback was an option, and I don't really think it counts for this kind of thing.

It’s not a softcover? The books in the pictures in the article certainly look like hardcovers!

My understanding was that it was going to be softcover due to the price point and the page numbers. I consider myself corrected. I do think that this smaller size might have contributed to the issue, but who really knows? Thanks to both comments!

It's hardcover. The reason it's being delayed is because the hard covers are warped. They showed the warping (and the hard covers) in the announcement of the delay.
