Eberron is kinda like Talislanta

Is it just me, or does the Eberron setting look a lot like Talislanta? Now, granted, I have not seen any Eberron advance manus or such, but the feel seems to be there. . .

Could you elaborate a bit on this? I really like Talislanta, but I'm not too keen yet on Eberron. Did I miss anything?

He Means that Visualy they look a lot alike. I agree and that is a good thing in my opinion. Talislanta is a stunningly beautiful setting.

Unfortunately, all I can remember from Talislanta is "No elves" and the race where the men are cave men and the women are hot svelte bikini models.
LOL The Batrian concubines and thier males. Great memory there. Thanks!

Not really.

Seems to have a higher tech level for one.

Uses standard d20 races for another.

Uses the d20 system for another.

Visually there are probably going to be some similiarities as Talislanta was cutting edge for its time. P.D. Breeding and Ron had some of the best art (and still do) in the business and gave the setting a very appealing visual feel.

Hmm... 1998, the year of the 4th (500 pages long) edition, is not that long ago that production standards were that different ;).

Heck, whose talking 4th edition? I'm old school and enjoyed the author's work when he was doing that Bard's Game stuff with it's various Complete Lines (Alchemists, Adventuerer, Spellcaster). The art in his original Talislanta books was still top notch and gave my 1st AD&D players many nightmares as they wished to fight no more creatures from a certain Bestiary.

Nail on the head. I still have those old books and love the art better than most of the stuff in the D20 books today.

Obviously, you've never plated Talislanta. It's MUCH closer to the current d20 system then 1st and 2nd edition ever was.

Speaking of old systems... if you just want to play d20, nearly verbatim, play Arcanum (which funnily enough was distributed by WoTC before anyone had heard of them much). Arcanum, I beleive, had some of the same people that worked on Talislanta.
