Eberron isn't Steampunk

Pulp Fantasy is more accurate, I think.

That term would get it confused with "Pulp Swords & Sorcery Fantasy" ala Conan, Fafhrd & the Grey Mouser, Elric etc. whereas you're meaning a combination of "Pulp Pulp" with "S&S Fantasy", and we couldn't have that, now, could we?

For this reason, I propose the brand spanking new term Pulpy Pulp Swords & Sorcery Fantasy, Now With Extra Pulp, to describe the new genre, as is good and proper.

Time for a lie down now, I think.

Well, hold on there. Who is "They"? Are "They" anyone who we think has actual useful insight on literature and it's forms and meanings, or are they folks writing advertising copy, or reviewers and writers trying to justify their own existance - "No, *my* work is new and innovative! It isn't steampunk, it's bionanoMcPunk!"

"They" need to be a reputable authority before "they" get accepted as an excuse

I think 'they' should be more offended by the "punk" portion of the term... What the heck does this setting have to do with angsty, anarchic, good-for-nothing louts? Thats not something I'd want my product associated with.

If its using metal and gears and its rusty and run by some kind of pressure caused by steam... then it half qualifies as steampunk. If its angsty, gritty, rebellious, then its REALLY steampunk.
