Eberron Questions

 ok Eberron isnt really that good now that it is out and well some parts i was looking forward too really let me down. I really wanted more feats for the warforged and a better juggernaut class than what they gave, maybe some nice simple rules on weapon arms for starting warforged?. Does anyone have a prestiege class like the juggernaut (perhaps a redesigned version) that theyve tested that works and is well balanced but a bit more exciting than what the book has? Suggestions would also be nice. I have some druids shape warforged out of rock and wood with vines for hair to guard their groves, and dwarves for war and mass minning in contested territory, also atlantis uses them in my world but only with the upgraded metal feats. I also gave feats for them involving different gems in the eyes like low light from green gems and darkvision from red gems. Second the lighning rails, well i cant seem to find them despite the early net paplet previews (across eberron) of the eberon setting having them. So if anyone can direct me to what pages and give me their oppinions and maybe any remade ones (remade homebrewed lightning rails) that seem to work well or oppinions on the airships and lightning rails as i am still undecided on the airships and if thats the way i really wanna run them in my homemade campaign. Really after looking through the eberron setting i didnt find much i wanted to add to my home campaign from it and thats very dissapointing considering how excited i was from the across eberron web teaser. One final thing i think we should post the stats of the warforged titan as is from the eberron book with description and all on this thread then put below it improved version like ideas and homebrewed things that have worked well so we can all see and compare. So far everytime i look at it it just seems to be missing something maybe seeing it on the same page as peoples fixed up versions will help. anyway thanks for your time and thanks for putting up with the bad spelling and gramar. :uhoh:

Seconded!

hey when your drunk half asleep and on loads of pills for allergies you tend to ramble.
Like right now i am drunk and stayed up all day and night watched some awesome movie called i spit on your grave and also a western called young guns (hey i was drunk , still am)So any way glad to see i am getting replies here, and glad races of eberron is coming out but would like to see what other people have done with eberron , as races will most likely suck as bad as eberron.
This forum seems really friendly most people would have just replied with hatemail.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmm moldy thai tea from some weird shop, i am gonna be sick again.
Picked up planar hanbook or whatever. To many races with level adjustments but liked the feats and equip. Not enough on sigil but otherwise really good for being so overpriced.
Anyway i am a gamer and not an english teacher or some meth adict so expect bad gramar and poor spelling (with no more apologies) and since i am not on meth and dont have some sort of hyperactivity disorder i am gonna make these long. If your a gamer and cant stand huge blocks of text you must be a vid gamer not paper and dice (come on look at some of those phonebook sized rulebooks out there).
Oh yeah and just nopticed someone put something about not having to play the way its written they obviously were in a hurry and missed the parts where i was changing stuff and adding stuff like the gems for eyes causing different effects and the parts where i ask for other peoples ideas.
Well anyway dont want to get into arguments or picking at other peoples problems thats not in the spirit of this post so i am gonna stop at that and drop arguing sorry. Thanks everyone for your replies and hope to see more

Sober reading helps..

Here is my read: Eberron is a good setting with lots of 'new' stuff. Most of the stuff makes sense, given an advanced culture based on magic.
The world itself lends more weight to the standard DnD fare as it makes more sense to have bands of 'adventurers' in the wake of a great war.
The Campaign book does a good job of the broad brush approach, after all they are trying to showcase an entire world with multiple cultures and civilizations.
On to your topics.. hidden as they are in the huge block of text:

If your campaign is in Eberron....

Warforged: The creation of Warforged is due to Artifact level magic items, I highly suggest sticking to that, as two major plots revolve around the, now illegal, Artifacts that are still in semi working condition. Honeslty, I have no idea why they do not get at least low-light vision, a great advantage for any combat soldier. I am sure an expansion will be out that goes more indepth into the options for these characters. The biggest set of options are magical enhancements and components. The components in the back of the book go a fair way to starting the concept.

Lightning Rail: its mainly in the back section on new magic items. The concept, and execution is decent. Mainly its a plot device to get players from point A to point B quickly and safely, altho I plan a 'Murder on the Orient Express' type game :)

Airships: These are very useful.. and its important to leave them controlled by the Guilds. Its the safest and fastest way to adventure outside the bounds of Khovair, and potentially to manuever into the Mournland. Altho the possibility of the elemental binding in the Mournland could prove disasterous.

If you want to translate to your homebrew world..
This will depend alot on your world. The emergence of 'rapid transit' and safe passage will revolutionize civilization. It brings regular mail service, increase in trade options, and all sorts of stuff.
Living contructs could cause major issues with the moral slavery issues.. are they due the rights to creatures that are 'born' instead of 'made'? Will there be an uprising?

Crunch in Eberron is slim, they added Action points and a couple races. The main draw is the depth of the worlds history and cultures involved. If I were to look for homebrew stuff to steal, it would be the cultures. For instance, the monstrorous country ran by the iron might of a coven of Hag's.

WarForged in another world could look alot different, based on why/how they are created. The idea of creating a PC race with PC available spells would, IMHO, be a bad thing. Their creation needs to be something out of reach of players. A druidic warforged 'living tree' could be an interesting encounter.

I could ramble on, but for one, I am at work, and two, I would have to know about the homebrew setting to make really worthwhile comments. As to using the Eberron setting itself, I have enjoyed what I know so far and look forward to adapting and gaming inside its twisted realms.

JMHO

A little about my world,at least the parts where i am going to throw in warforged.

Atlantis is a mixture of humans with high stats and lots of magic. All npc's who through breeding and magic have become a sort of war crazed master race. A bit like rome in there treatment of other people. The own lots of slave and cherish physical perfection and high magic. The use many golems and construct when not on the island. On island they are defended by the native populace. Dragonmen, who make up a third of atlantis's non slave populace. The dragonmen come in two groups the scholars and the wariors. The lightning rails could easily fit atlantis. The warforged have no rights but are treated very very well here. The coastal areas of continents around atlantis are full of highly advanced slave comunities. Sometimes these rebel and make golems of their own but have yet to perfect warforged.

The druids use them to guard groves. They treat the warforged as creatures of nature (the ones built by them anyway). And when a druid dies if there is no one to take over his grove the warforged does till he can find a proper rplacement. Yes i know everyone thinks every grove should have a circle of druids well mine dont get over it. I have groves that have just one druid and then larger groves with many. Sometimes rangers of various nature friendly races help protect them and ofcourse animals help.

Finally the last group to currently have warforged. Dwarves from across the landsea. The landsea is a huge flat planes area with no hills surrounded by mountains. Peaopls use ships with wheels to sail across it. The dwarves in the mountains on the far end away from the other major countries (of which there are many its a huge world) are inventors and the populace is one fifth gnome. Many ancient long forgotten (by other dwarves) dwarven technology exists here.

Ok now for the airships. I was a big fan of the way mystara was built. Planet in a planet. So I have a huge underdark. Huge oceans and seas. Three huge continents (one a bunch of broken up islands), with a smaller antartic area and extremely smaller north artic area, and a small continent rumored to exist (so far it looks like the rumor is caused due to mix ups when people land on the continent of broken islands). And various tech levels on these depending on the area. Atlantis is a good sized island (called a continent by its egotistical people). So where do the airships fit in. Well one of the countries on the continent i use most that we will simple call the empire (cause its real name is cheesy) has just recently begin to build an armada of airships and discovered that almost all the clouds can be walked upon. They have also discovored that some of the larger clouds hold giant islands and some indiginous cultures that have been using airships for years. So really fast moving airship could help flush out one of the indiginous cloud peoples.

Ok ok someone by now is saying whats that got to do with mystara. Well i get the most i can out of my planet. Mystar didnt wast the inside it made it like an entire new planet inside. I instead have a huge underdark almost like a hole other planet, huge ocean where entire comunities exist on floating ship (inspired by portals island art and some of the warhammer ship art). And an entire other world type area in the clouds. Some storm clouds that constantly move across the world are perpetualy that way. So stepping onto one of those its always flooding raining and night. Some are constanly in winter. Things like that.

Well enough for now loved that post where the eberron fan wasnt afraid to speak up for eberron he tackled some good issues. Hope this little tiny slice of my campaign setting gives him enough to go on. Any of you still bothered by my posts being so huge and horribly written should read two rpg classics HOL (the rulebook) and asylum (the rulebook)
