Titanic is not pulp/noir (but it does give WotC an excuse to pump out stat blocks for a heap of commoners and experts... and maybe even multiclassed commoner/experts!).

Don't think Titanic, think zeppelin. They are all over pulps, especially more modern pulps (for example, Indiana Jones, IIRC, had one).

It's actually a one-shot, not a series. From the WotC 2006 Catalog :

One early blurb also mentions it has options to use the Golden Dragon as a mobile base of operations for the PCs in the future.

"The elementals of the ship are just holding it, just enough to keep it from -- it's burst into flames! And it's crashing, it's crashing -- terrible. Oh, my, get out of the way please. It's burning, bursting into flames, and this is terrible, this is one of the worst catastrophes in the world. All those flames -- shooting four or 500 feet into the sky, it is.

"It's a terrific crash, ladies and gentlemen, the smoke and the flames now, and the airship is crashing to the ground, all the humanity, and all the persons are just screaming around here."

Ok, its a combination between the Golden voyage of sinbad, the last crusade, a murder mystery, and the final voyage of the Hindenburg all rolled into one?
should be interesting....

It's very interesting. It's four short (connected) adventures aboard the Golden Dragon - as it is launched, and on its maiden voyage.

There's a *lot* of scope for intrigue and roleplaying, as well as some suitably pulpy action scenes.

I think it'd be somewhat challenging to DM, but the rewards would be worth it, IMO.

Cheers!

It follows the grand tradition of published Eberron modules in having a bunch of interesting ideas as a framework for a game, but somehow doesn't really mesh well when put into play. I've played each of them and let me tell you, the skeleton of these things is pretty solid, but the flesh on it is mutated a bit and needs surgery to make it actually pretty.

Good ideas, just expect to have to tinker with them rather than run them from the box.

John Cooper's review of VoGD, for people who haven't read it.

Thanks fot the feedback guys. I get two different yet very similar vibes here. I have all the other Eberron modules, and I kind of see what you guys are talking about. It's a bit like you've got the loose frame of the adventure, but you've got to be a tad experienced as a DM to actually make it fit the pace and needs of the PC group, right?

How is it worth it, exactly?
