Ebook Support

Just give it to us in digital. That's what we want. Nothing is easier than a tablet or ereader with the rules, then carrying the books to a convention.
Please WOTC give us digital or give us death.

I stopped buying products from WotC after they discontinued their PDF line. (Not 100% b/c of that. My group also decided they didn't want to play 4e.)

I don't know that I would buy 5th edition if I couldn't get the books in PDF format. I just don't have the space to keep collecting physical books. And with my iPad, electronic books are SO much more convenient.

Anyone thinks that D&Dn needs ebook (pdfs, kindle, ibooks) support?

Yes. Every book should be available in PDF format, plus any popular eBook formats. Anything that's a bit book-like (such as power cards) should likewise be electronically available.

Plus, they should continue, and even enhance, the DDI support going forward. Oh, and if at all practical, they should try to offer 'bundles' - buy the hardcopy get the PDF for $5, or whatever.

I read almost everything in my ipad nowadays and we aways play RPG with computers/tablets at tables. To me go back to dead trees books would be a big step back.

Conversely, I'm a bit of a luddite. I don't want any of that stuff at my table. So, just as they should support eBooks and the like, they should also make sure everything is available in print. And if there is any required electronic component, they've lost me as a customer.

(Two notes about that - given the 4e errata/revision model, I would support them publishing everything on DDI first, doing a playtest, applying errata/revisions, and only then bringing things to print - provided they do bring things to print! Also, when I say "any required electronic component", I would expand that to include something as 'required' as the 4e Character Builder - that is, you can play without it, but lose too much in doing so, IMO.)

The iBook author looks fantastic for developing adventures. Maps, pictures and links to the compendium if you have access can all be inserted as widgets. I will use it even if WotC won't.

Due to the restrictions on this platform, namely not being able to transfer your work to another platform should Apple decide not to publish your work, it's probably better to use other equivalent software.

I agree completely!

I was reading another thread about creating a 5th ed monster manual.
I would love to have a new monster manual in digital format.
Stat info. Monster description, and a picture of the beast.
Just think of taping a pic and expand it to full size and show the players.
enlarge the stat block.
There is so much you could do.

To expand on my XP reply...

Apple tools are far too proprietory, especially since Android has a much bigger market share and Windows 8 is expected to snag market share at least equil to Apple shortly after launch. Best to bring something to market that works cross-platform, as you can reach more customers.
