OOC: Of course the bandit doesn't know about contacts or agents in town. Insight DC 0 he is telling the truth. You get the feeling he was one of those people that got caught up in something way over his head, and couldn't get out. Marching order: Templeton (scouting) Zanword and Hexiros 10' back Aridha and Gwylla right behind them Rana and Bekah Emmyr

Aridha looked from Zanword back to Rana and asked softly as they prowled forward, so as not to spoil Templeton's sneakery, "What do you think this 'Lareth' is? Some kind of monster?"

"Lareth... have I heard of the name before? it escapes me just now..."

OOC: Does the name Lareth hold any clues, what sort of culture does it come from? Intelligence; +2 if History Prof helps.: 1D20+3 = [3]+3 = 6

"Monster, yes. The worst kind. Human." replies Zanword as he hurries off after Templeton.

As Templeton eased into the darkness underground the others noticed a notable change in Templeton's demeanor. Usually he had this quirky twitchiness about him. As if he were afraid something would jump out at him. This was especially so in public places with strangers.
However, now, there was a relaxed, practiced way he was moving about in the tunnels below the moathouse. And a confidence that the squirrelly man did not usually exude.

OOC: Oh I think Templeton is going to be able to find just about every secret door until we get 3 levels deep into the temple - lol

Going back out to the main hall and then through the archway the rats emerged from, Templeton finds a small open "L-shaped" storeroom, with a set of wooden stairs leading down. A little bit of light coming from an arrow slit allows the rogue to see the steps and a disgusting sight at the bottom.

Three rats lay upon the dirt floor at the bottom, two are dead, and the third is dying slow and painfully. The two dead rats look like they were dipped in a vat of acid, their skin and muscles melted away to the bone. The still barely alive rat has a wispy smoke coming up from its hind quarters and both its rear legs and tail are missing. The hair on its back is hissing as an emerald liquid crosses the skin and hair. Temple sees a small amount of the same liquid pooled under the two dead rats as well and he immediately looks to the ceiling of the cellar, looking very carefully.

Zanword is about to come around the corner of the "L" of the storage room when he is nearly ran over by the ratcatcher as he scrambles backwards up the steps.

Still on his arse Templeton points towards the cellar and stammers out two words. "Gr.. gre.... GREEN SLIME!"

OOC: Rolls: Perception: 13+3= 16 notices the hazard Nature: 20+6= 26 knows all about green slime maybe a bad run in once before? Note: Slime covered all of the ceiling Templeton could see, no way to "sneak" past

Zanword stops the man and helps him up fighting gag reflex at his smell.

The experience on water didn't leave him with knowledge of such creatures.

"What is green slime, Templeton? Calm down!"

"Blimey!" Templeton spat in a panic. "Ya never heard o the Green Slime? It'll melt ya t'yer bones...and them too! Turns ya into the stuff! Sunlight, fire, frost can kill it." He then paused and his off-center eyes lit up in remembrance. "Father Icarus! Cuthbert bless his soul. There was a whole mess of the stuff under the City of Greyhawk once. He was able ta cure it! Like it wazza disease! Stuff started to curdle and burn away like pea soup left cooking in a pot fer days!"

OOC: Gonna NPC Rana and Bekha till hopefully their players return.

Rana, still back by the archway into the storeroom asks if there is any way around it. When the rogue looks again and tells her it is all over she cackles.

"Good, good, very good," she says between laughs that makes everyone feel uneasy. "Let The Lady's creatures guard this area for us. We have other places we can explore and this Lareth to deal with."
