More and more I'm finding myself becoming a member of the Blue Team, not because I am particularly enamored to the changes being made, but, Blue Team seems to be slightly less asinine in its claims of "what makes D&D D&D".

Did we just get confirmed that there will be monster templates in 4e? If so yay. i really liked those.
We knew templates are still in (it came up a few times), but I think this is at least a good indicator that 4E templates still can have the same impact as 3.X templates. Previously, we only heard that numerical changes would be minimized.

Um, no. What i mean is what I said. It wasn't really an issue before 4E started its roll out and we realized that WotC was planning on changing everything about the game -- even elements that had survived into 3E because those things are what make D&D D&D.
Or where it just elements that they fear to remove because people were to accustomed to it, but weren't neccessary for a good D&D game?

But doesn't this still apply even after the Death Knight is destroyed?

No it doesn't. After the Death Knight is destroyed, the soul weapon reverts to being merely a weapon of badassery. You have to kill the Knight before you can claim its weapon.

More specifically, I'd like to design a scenario/have a recurring villian that is a Death Knight who possesses and uses a weapon that doesn't have his soul in it.

Heh.

"Say Mr. Death Knight, how come you keep your soul weapon sheathed at your side and use that ranseur all the time?"

"Well look, I became a Death Knight when I was young and foolish so my soul weapon is just a +1 shortsword. This ranseur on the other hand, is +5 Unholy Shocking. What else can I do?"

Answering Cadfan from back on page 1

While I have seen Western artists who use those very long ears, far more appear to use a subtly pointed ear. I have yet to see a single elf image from Japanese art or works inspired by their style that DOESN'T use the uber-pointy spear ears. They're a defining feature of elves in anime and seems so in my limited experience of manga. Regardless of who draws it that's a style I simply don't like, and if I identify it with anime it's not because anime=bad it's because within anime the trait seems ubiquitous and defining.

I agree. Besides, to me, those long ears are just plain ugly, and make the rest of the elf, regardless of how good the actual picture is, utterly ridiculous. Besides, they remind me of hairless donkey ears, and that's not something I want my elves running about with.

It's like old-edition FR elves all over again, with hands that were half-again as long as human hands.

That, and the elf/halfling/whatever in that pic really should have washed her hair before ending up in that picture. Her armour and equipment look squeaky-clean, yet her hair seems extremely greasy. Yuck. :p

Regards.

No comments on the actual article...what id like to know is if the new online Dragon and Dungeon magazines will always be issued "piecemeal" over the whole month...that would be a big negative to me subscribing...Id rather it be all issued in one go, so that I can pick and choose what articles to read, and when - rather than an article every few days that I have to keep an eye out for...ive searched for an answer and dont see it anywhere...

thanks

They will be issued over the course of the month--and then, at the end of the month, combined into a single PDF.

So no, no need to keep an eye out. If you'd rather, just check at the end of every month and download the PDF.
