Edit: One does not need tactile and visual input from the contolled subject to still do a good job. Remote controlled cars can be adeptly piloted from the sidelines, why not a body?

How many remote control pianos do you know of? That remote control is specifically made to control said car, that is its purpose. Controlling your guy has no such failsafe. Try controlling it with numb hands, or without looking at where the car is. Either of those makes it difficult to impossible. So if you cant feel or see what the construct is doing directly then how are you going to make them use skills that require such things? Cant pick the lock, cant manipulate fine things, etc. ;/

If your construct is 30 feet away then I doubt there is any real difference in its ability to do things from either source. You control that remote control car just as well by useing a remote in your hand as a remote in your mind, can you make the remote control car pick that lock? I've seen a lot of people who cant even make the car go where they want it even 'with' the remote

And if the only real benefit to the power is with trigger I can accept that I suppose.. that at least is a real benefit above and beyond a regular astral construct power.

These are both fine points. I am still of the belief that our piano virtuioso is going to play any piece much better than he could command me to, even if he can't feel and has his eyes closed.

The thrust of my point, beyond squabbling over cars, guitars and pianos is this: There are tasks one can perform instinctively, without input. I'm sure a martial arts expert could run our slaved astral construct through some pretty styling katas even if his eyes were closed and it were 30' away.

In any case, I would allow my players to play the piano through the construct. This is probably a rule 0 thing, but whatever. That's utility that is worth an extra 2 PP, concentration, and short range to me.

Of course and the extra utilty for the extra cost is what I want. I might make a post on houserules to see how people would change this spell to more address that. Not sure yet.

I do have one last question for you though, you go around everyday and make many actions. Do you directly control yourself or mentally control yourself? After all, mind and body 'are' seperate to a certain degree

I would suppose I go about my life in a combination of direct and mental control. In this context, I'm going to agree with where I think you're going with this and say that they are one and the same thing. I can't draw a distinct line in my mind between the puppet-like control and the mental command I have over my body.

However, as far as I'm concerned, for the purposes of those powers, they are not. It just makes more sense to me for those powers to trancend reality and work in that manner.
