How many remote control pianos do you know of? That remote control is specifically made to control said car, that is its purpose. Controlling your guy has no such failsafe. Try controlling it with numb hands, or without looking at where the car is. Either of those makes it difficult to impossible. So if you cant feel or see what the construct is doing directly then how are you going to make them use skills that require such things? Cant pick the lock, cant manipulate fine things, etc. ;/
If your construct is 30 feet away then I doubt there is any real difference in its ability to do things from either source. You control that remote control car just as well by useing a remote in your hand as a remote in your mind, can you make the remote control car pick that lock? I've seen a lot of people who cant even make the car go where they want it even 'with' the remote

And if the only real benefit to the power is with trigger I can accept that I suppose.. that at least is a real benefit above and beyond a regular astral construct power.
