I like the new direction of the realms. Something different. FR books will be my only 4e purchases so far.

what exactly is the "new direction o' the Realms"?
From what I've 'heard', the "new Realms" is somethin like a hunerd years into the future, mystra is dead & Elimenster is locked up for not paying all the child support he owes for all the bonkin he's done over the centuries----& Drz'zzt is probably lost in melancholy 'cause Cattie Brie(sp) has died of old age---at least depressed until he becomes a darksong knight for Ellistrae/dark &/or masked lady/& prbably super hot spider chick since shes beat her mother at the savaa(realy, sp) game----hmmm, the pain medication is kickin in:)

Straight down.

That part is just a rumour.

mystra is dead & Elimenster is locked up for not paying all the child support he owes for all the bonkin he's done over the centuries

Why would he be locked up? All those chicks are long dead.

Drz'zzt is probably lost in melancholy 'cause Cattie Brie(sp) has died of old age

That has probably been 50 years previously. He'll probably be over her.

until he becomes a darksong knight for Ellistrae/dark &/or masked lady/& prbably super hot spider chick since shes beat her mother at the savaa(realy, sp) game----hmmm, the pain medication is kickin in:)

Nope. It seems that their match ended in stalemate, since both Lolth and Eilistraee are still around (and Ghaunadaur apparently survived an attack by Lolth and fled)

Besides, I doubt he'd change now, he already had plenty of time to turn to the dark maiden. He seems to stick with Mielikki - unless she's being killed off, too. Wouldn't surprise me. I suspect that the Realms will be monotheistic in 5e.

I think it's a good thing that the world's creator has a say in how it goes forward.

Whilst I'm not sure if I always agree with that, I think that in this case, despite the fact that Ed is a dirty old man with a tendency to create annoying NPCs, this should be good. When he can stay away from the "hot NPCs" and "good guy cities", and focus on the world, Ed Greenwood comes up with some fantastic ideas, and is quite capable of deconstructing and reconstructing his own gameworld in very interesting ways.

Whizbang Dustyboots - Agreed, "rough trade" really only has one meaning. I love the idea that someone might get confused and think it meant "mercenary" though. Oh god, the mental images. Confused Merchant: "I need 50 of the best of the rough trade this city has to offer to defend my caravan!".

There's an adventure idea in there somewhere.

If nothing else, I think I've found a bit for an NPC bard in my campaign to recount when I need a filler ...
