I can tell you right now that I could play in Castlemourn for 20 years and never be able to parse the following sentence:

Running from Sparruk in the sarrind to Khalandorn in the sekhovynd, a knife-edged ridge (riddled with caverns and clefts) forms the western border of Khalandorn.

Agreed. Changing common use terms = d'uh stupid.

Others call it "flavor".

I agree that there are far better ways to add distinctive flavor to a setting, and far better kinds of words.

DCC 35 does a good job of that.
 

Ed Greenwood gave an interview at Gen Con (available here) and talks about FR and Castlemourn a bit. He doesn't say anythign about being tired of FR, though he does refer to the fact that some things about the setting are done differently than he would.
