Tired of thinly veiled edition wars threads? So am I.

This is definitely NOT a thinly veiled edition wars thread.

Auditions: Vote for everything you consider D&D. Write-ins will be considered.

"A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their [community] to it's true principles[: playing pretty elven princesses]."

This thread will end badly.

I voted for every edition I've ever played. That was D&D. The editions I've never played are potentially D&D, but don't count unless I kill and orc with it.

This is Truth.

We've started ending war by preempting it with friendly edition-based singing competitions. (4E is a strong contender, not being bound by limits of skill points, an' all.)

...I voted for all but the bottom two. If possible, I would've given two votes for each of the officially D&D products, and one vote each for OSRIC, C&C, Hackmaster, and Pathfinder. In my opinion, they all represent the "spirit" of D&D, but the nebulous community definition of "D&D" means that there multiple levels of "D&D-ness", unattainable by products which have never officially carried the label.

well I won't go into my vote but I have a few "write ins" as well-

Swords & Wizardry (of which I'll soon be posting a review)

Labyrinth Lord

BFRPG

all great stuff, and def D&D.

52 voters and I'm the only one who chose none of the above? Psh. Real D&D is when I'm DMing- everything else is a pale substitute.

I heard the angels singing and the bells ringing when you said this.
