I voted for every edition I've ever played. That was D&D. The editions I've never played are potentially D&D, but don't count unless I kill and orc with it.

First and foremost for me would be my own cobbled together version of 3.0/3.5/Arcana Unearthed/Arcana Evolved/OGL mixed with many personal ideas. In fact, it is so heavily modified that it bears very little resemblance to D&D RAW in any form...

After that it falls down to a coin-flip between 3e & 3.5, with OD&D (original) for sentimental reasons...

Likely because a number respondents either used Remathilis's metric, or misread the poll or voted based on their opinion of 'The One True D&D', with a skew in voters who made that mistake toward 3.5e fans.

Must be. For quite a while there, the leading total was both 1E AD&D and 3.5E D&D; I also found that very interesting.

EDIT: I also find it odd that every single one of the previous editions of "official" D&D/AD&D are higher than 4E. I suspect it's due to the nature of the poll, with 4E and Non-4E fans alike voting for each of the official editions, but with the "grogs" not reciprocating and voting for 4E.
