It's Ha-Ha Only Serious. I's NOT scientifically accurate. I'm curious as to why 4e has continued to drop. I don't think it is the most likely scenario, but it wouldn't be out of character for the anti-4e crowd to be creating new logins just to "prove" less than half of ENworlders think 4E is D&D.

I was wondering that myself. Given the number of fans/detractors that 4E has gained in recent months, I wonder how many people aren't just logging off and voting anonymously, just to make 4E look better/worse compared to other editions.

CNN has the right of the serous side, and frankly, if 4e isn't D&D to you, go play what you think it is.

I think it's always interesting when polls give you unexpected results! However, you're right, there's nothing here that's especially meaningful in and of itself (even as far as forum polls go). That said, it still poses some interesting questions, particularly if, like me, you prefer not to think that double-voting is making a significant difference to your results.

Anyway, I'm still curious to see how Edition Idol turns out, too!

Because honestly: does a game have to be "real D&D" in order for it to be enjoyable?

Well, I’ve long said that 3e is an enjoyable game but not D&D. People express the thought for—I think—three reasons...

1. If edition X and Y are really different games, then there’s no reason for them to not be in print at the same time
2. D&D has a unique position in the hobby and gamers would like to see the in print game with the D&D name be the best D&D in their eyes
3. Just to share the opinion. Honestly, that’s all we all really come here for, right? Just to chew the fat. If Bob says 4e isn’t D&D that doesn’t mean that he believes it matters. He just...you know...sayin’.
