Edition Proof Books?

4th Edition Compatibility

As a fan or 4th Edition and a collector of 3rd Edition, one of the biggest questions I have right now is when the edition proof boks will be updated to 4th edition. When I asked about this at the original announcement weekend at Gen Con, we were told it would be soon after the release of 4th these would be updated. Has anyone heard any word on when these will actually be updated? Since the books themselves specifically state they will be updated, it seems that Wizards can't/shouldn't be able to back out of this upgrade, right?

This is not the thread I thought it was...

Here I'm thinking this is like an old thread asking which books are useful across edition (DM Design Kit, World Builder's Guidebook, etc.)

Instead it's what wizards' think as "Edition Proof Books":

Edition-Proof Products

These products are not tied to a specific edition:
  • Confessions of a Part-Time Sorceress: A Girl’s Guide to Dungeons & Dragons
  • Grand History of the Realms
  • Dungeon Survival Guide
  • Eberron Survival Guide (March 2008)

Which as far as I can tell means "Books that are worthless regardless of which edition you play."

I though these were updates for some of the last crunchy 3.5 books?

Does 'Confessions of a part time Sorcerer' really need a 4e update?

:p  No kidding. Though if you are a fan of the Realms (pre 4E), that book seems to be a good purchase

Why would you need to update an "edition proof" book to the latest edition? That's the whole point of being edition proof - it's not tied to any specific edition, so applies equally to all.

Maybe I wasn't fully clear. I am talking specifically about the 3rd Edition mechanic books that are supposed to be converted to 4th edition mechanics.
