Mage: The Ascension, second edition vs. revised can ignite impressive amounts of flames. What's to flame over? nWoD Mage just stinks, and everyone knows it![]()
You haven't seen an edition war until you've watched a group of oWoD & nWoD players get into a fist-fight (about 12 folks total, and police were called and there were charges of assault).
In a somewhat related (though much more humorous) event, we had the local group of Vampire Larpers abandon meeting at the local IHOP because they were "driven off" by the Werewolf Larpers being so loud and obnoxious in the same area.
Given the current state of both lines it is particularly an edition war without much merit. I don't think you could ask for a much better solution than 2 actively supported game lines that appeal to each individual group of fans.
I have not looked at fifth edition. I am firmly and happily stuck playing third edition. But I remember the arguments and name calling that went on when Shadowrun fourth came out. I don't understand edition wars just play what you like.
Of course since I disliked fourth edition Shadowrun and fourth edition DnD I have been told that I don't really have a problem with games but with the number 4.![]()
Not sure what the problem between Shadowrun 3E and 4E players was. I guess it had something to do with the new matrix.
