What? I remember reading a novel that had something like that but I don't remember any spell in the game that really accomplished such at thing. Besides the Mind Blast is an area effect. Your brain will be affected no matter its location unless it is not within the AoE. Poison sounds promising until you fail your own save when applying it.

It was the FR Novel Siege of Darkness I believe, wherein two Harpell wizards (inventive yet insane) made a custom polymorph self spell for themselves which shifted their brain and their large intestine internally, so that when the Mind Flayers grappled them to extract brains...all they got is POO!. This was never carried through in any edition to game mechanics.

There is no spell that allows that in the RAW or in any of the supplements I have or am aware of (and I have way too many).

Now, for a similar effect, however, I believe in 3.5 you can polymorph into various forms, and when you do so, you gain their Type, and thus the benefits directly tied to their type - so you could for instance polymorph yourself into a Treant to gain various plant immunities (for instance, against mind affecting) or into an Ooze (which don't have brains to speak of, and are thus immune to being brain sucked).

We are currently involved in a campaign against a Mind-Flayer city. I'd like to get ideas of how to effectively fight against them.

Hire other adventurers to fight them for you? :D

Yeah, we're kind of screwed but we might as well go out in a blaze.

Well ... I'll root for you on the sidelines. (The crystal ball scrying sidelines, that is.) :)

Oh and by the way - the novel where a wizard switched the location of the contents of his head and the contents of his posterior was in one of the Drizz't novels. I was always wondering what kind of spell he used to do that too....

I actually thought about the "illithid slayer" possibilty too. Maybe you can get in contact with some and they can send a few shock troops along with you or hook you up with some helpful things?

Well, we are going to ask for some "help" from our patrons, so a Slayer might be one of the things we might ask for. Of course we are going to spend some of our hard earned cash on some magical stuff for this battle. We'll see how it turns out.

Yeah, I remember thinking the same thing about that novel. What the....? Anyways, it was at least entertaining.
