Egyptian Adventures: Hamunaptra Box Set

Ok, I am really looking forward to this set. I have been wanting to run a Egyptian theme campaign for a long time and this set seems to be right what I need. However, I was thinking about the box set format. Will it work in this day an age?

I'll admit that I loved the old box sets, but the more I think about it, the more I realize that a lot of this books were relatively cheap and a box set takes up a lot of shelf space.

I am also interested in learning how many pages each smaller book will be? It does not say in the listing and I wonder exactly what we can look forward too.

The product sounds interesting, and if it is of the same quality as Testament , it will be hard to resist. I wonder if it will try to do anything with neighboring cultures, such as the Hittites? (The Hittites received a brief mention in Testament , but they were a major rival to Egypt before the Invasion of the Sea Peoples.)

I really like the idea of a box set. It lets me, as a DM, give my PCs a book to get familiar with without giving everything away. However, I do understand that they may not be the best idea financially.

It sure as heck will for me. I love box sets - they historically have had a high degree of utility for me.

Because I'm not a publisher, I don't care about whether it will "work in this day and age".

From what I understand, it won't be a historical Egypt, but anaalogous one, in the same way that Nyambe is analogy-Africa and Al-Qadim is analogy-Arabia.

There's a Hittite web extra for Testament on Spike's desk, awaiting for some spare time for him to finish it. Unfortunately, Spike's such a good editor that people don't want him to have any spare time. :-)

That's still pretty cool. My brother loves ancient Egypt, and if/when I get the setting, I plan on reading it, handing him the player books and saying "Read these." I only get to game with my brother every few months, so I can give him the player books on one visit, then play a game with him the next time I'm around.

Indeed. In fact, while it wasn't designed specifically with this in mind, and they come from different publishers, I see no reason you couldn't use both Hamunaptra and Nyambe in the same campaign setting, to represent two parts of the same world.

Nyambe is one of my favorite non-Western-culture settings in the 3E era. If people like Hamunaptra even nearly as much, I'll be well pleased. :)

Well, that would certainly be doable. The boxed set contains three books, and all of the "DM-only" info is shoved into one book. :)

Folks, for those who don't him--since he's not a usual poster around here--allow me to introduce C.A. Suleiman, most recent developer for Mummy: The Resurrection, author of numerous White Wolf and Sword & Sorcery titles, and the brains and drive behind Hamunaptra. I believe he wrote about as much as Steve and I combined, and the entire thing was based on his vision.

If you love it, thank him. If not, blame all of us.

(Well, okay, you can thank me and Steve a little... ;))
